Karnataka: Bag containing gold, cash stolen from minister's office; Secretariat employee arrested

A theft incident has been reported from inside the office of Congress Minister Byrathi Suresh at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly premises in Bengaluru. According to police, a man named Naveen had visited the minister’s office for official work while carrying a handbag containing approximately 300 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash.
Naveen later informed the police that he had accidentally left the bag inside the minister’s office. He realised the next morning that he had forgotten the bag and returned to the office, only to find it missing.
Following this, Naveen lodged a complaint at the Vidhana Soudha police station. During the investigation, CCTV footage reportedly revealed the involvement of a DPAR Group D employee, who was seen carrying the handbag. The suspect has since been arrested by the police.

Bengaluru: Former IT Firm employee booked for ‘theft’ of proprietary software worth Rs 87 cr
Earlier, a case has been registered against a former senior employee of an IT company for allegedly stealing proprietary software source code valued at nearly Rs 87 crore, police officials said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Ashutosh Nigam, previously worked as a Senior Manager and Research Scientist at Amadeus Software Labs India Private Limited. He had joined the company on February 1, 2020, and was later terminated from service in December last year.
According to the FIR, cited by PTI, Nigam is accused of unauthorisedly accessing and transferring the company’s confidential source code and related software on October 11, 2025. Police said the data was allegedly sent from his official system to his personal email account without the company’s permission or approval.
The complaint stated that when company officials confronted Nigam with internal reports, records and findings, he admitted to exfiltrating the source code. The admission was reportedly recorded on video by the company.
Following the incident, his employment was terminated on December 3, 2025. The FIR noted that the software, including its source code, is estimated to be worth around 8 million euros.
