For the unversed, the case involves a Rs 5 crore loan taken by the actor to fund the movie, several bounced cheques, and a resulting conviction under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Over time, interest, penalties, and late payments, the total dues reached nearly Rs 9 crore.
During the hearing, the Delhi High Court, led by Justice Sharma, said, "You have gone to jail because you didn’t honour your own commitment." The court noted that Yadav had, on multiple occasions, promised to pay the complainant but failed to do so. Today, his lawyers stated they would deposit the money before the court. Justice Sharma asked the counsel to finalise their position and said the matter will be taken up again at 2:30 PM.
Yadav's lawyer requested interim bail so the actor could attend his elder brother’s daughter’s wedding. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor surrendered at Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 5. Before surrendering, Rajpal Yadav said, "Sir, what should I do? I have no money, I don't see any solution. We are all alone here, I have to deal with this problem myself." After the statement of Rajpal Yadav surfaced online, several Bollywood celebrities came forward to support him financially.
According to his manager Goldie Jain, actors like Salman Khan, Sonu Sood, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and filmmaker David Dhawan extended their help. In an interview with news agency PTI, Rajpal Yadav's wife, Radha Yadav, thanked everyone who had come forward. She said, "Everybody has stood by him. The industry has been supportive, a big thank you to everyone who is coming out to help."
