Dharmendra dies at 89: Sunny Deol's son, Karan Deol collects 'He-Man of Bollywood's' ashes from crematorium

Dharmendra, Bollywood’s beloved ‘He-Man’, passed away at the age of 89. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol performed the last rites, while Amitabh Bachchan and other top stars arrived at the crematorium to pay their respects. Shah Rukh Khan also shared an emotional tribute. Read on for full details.

New Delhi:

Dharmendra, fondly remembered as Bollywood’s ‘He-Man’, passed away at 89 on Monday, November 24. The veteran actor had been battling age-related ailments and was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month for over 10 days before being shifted back to his Juhu bungalow, where he spent his final days under medical care.

Family members and colleagues from the film industry arrived at his residence and the crematorium to pay their last respects. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol performed the last rites this afternoon, while Hema Malini appeared before the media with folded hands. Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and other well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to the legendary star. PM Narendra Modi condoles Dharmendra's death, calling it the 'end of an era'.

Sunny Deol's son, Karan Deol, arrived at the crematorium around 8:30 am on November 25 to collect the ashes. After completing all the rituals, Karan Deol left for home with the ashes in an urn.

It is significant to note that Dharmendra is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur and their children, Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta and Ajita Deol, as well as Hema Malini and their daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
