63rd National Film Awards: Big B, Kangana Ranaut take trophies home

New Delhi: Awards were presented to the winners of the 63rd National Film Awards at the Vigyaan Bhawan, Delhi today evening. Among the industry biggies who took the prestigious trophy home were Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actress Kangana Ranaut. Big B won the best actor for ‘Piku’ while Kangana won it for ‘Tanu weds Manu Returns’.

This is the fourth time that Amitabh Bachchan has been presented with the prestigious award. He had earlier won the National Award for Agneepath, Black and Paa. Big B’s wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishek and daughter in law Aishwarya accompanied him to the event.

Kangana Ranaut, who took the award home for the third time was accompanied by her father, Amardeep Ranaut. Mr. Ranaut said he was proud to see his daughter get the award from the President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. "... I am very happy. I am a proud father and it is a matter of great pride," he told PTI. The 29-year-old actress stood out in a pink off-shoulder gown from Beirut-based Lebanese designer Georges Chakra. She teamed her gown with a classic bob, which is similar to the look that she will be seen sporting in her upcoming film "Rangoon".

Ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who bagged the Best Direction Award for the magnum opus "Bajirao Mastani", said the award was very important for him.

"It's a 'shabaashi' and a pat on the back to say that you have done work that matters to the nation,"
