ECI appoints Special Central Police Observer for states of Andhra and Telangana

These observers would oversee the deployment and other security related issues in the said states.

Election Commission of India (ECI) has nominated Vivek Dube (IPS AP 1981 Retd) as the Central Police Observer for the states of West Bengal and Jharkhand during General Elections 2019. K K Sharma (IPS 1982 Retd DG Border Security Force) who was earlier nominated for these states has now been assigned the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana instead.

These observers would oversee the deployment and other security related issues in the said states.

General elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day the results will be declared.

Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general election.
