Student sends bomb threat email to avoid exams
On October 11, a private school in outer Delhi received a bomb threat e-mail that later turned out to be a hoax. Police discovered that the message was sent by a student trying to skip exams, officials said.
According to police, the principal of Vishal Bharti Public School alerted authorities after receiving an e-mail claiming that a bomb had been planted on campus. A PCR call was then made to the Paschim Vihar East Police Station.
“Multiple teams reached the school and activated standard bomb threat protocols. The building was evacuated, and teams from the Bomb Disposal Squad, Dog Squad, and Fire Department were called in to carry out thorough checks,” a senior police officer said.
After an extensive search, no suspicious item was found, and the threat was confirmed to be fake. A case was registered, and the cyber team traced the e-mail to a juvenile.
“The juvenile was apprehended and during questioning, he admitted to sending the threatening mail because he was afraid of exams and wanted the school to declare a holiday,” the officer added.
Bomb threat to Vice President’s Chennai residence declared hoax
A bomb threat targeting the Poes Garden residence of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan triggered a security scare in Chennai last week. Police later confirmed that the threat was a hoax.
Authorities said the alert was received through an email sent to the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police. Following the message, a special team, including members of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a sniffer dog unit, rushed to the Vice President’s residence. The premises were thoroughly inspected as part of precautionary measures.
After an extensive search, officials found no suspicious objects. “The threat appears to be a hoax,” a senior police officer stated.
Police sources revealed that the city has been receiving numerous similar email threats over the past month, causing repeated false alarms. Investigators are now working to trace the origin of these messages and identify the person or group responsible for sending them.
