Chander Mohan

Chander Mohan is the Congress party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana from 2005 to 2008. He is the son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal. Chander Mohan represented the Kalka Assembly constituency four times in a row in 1993 (bypoll), 1996, 2000 and 2005. Chander Mohan won the seat in the 1996 Haryana Assembly Elections by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Shyam Lal with a margin of 20,629 votes. Mohan retained his seat in 2000 after defeating Shyam Lal again by 14,843 votes. He again won the election in 2005 by defeating Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate Pardeep Chaudhry. In the 2014 Assembly Election, Chander Mohan changed his constituency from Kalka to Nalwa and contested as a Haryana Janhit Congress (Bhajan Lal) candidate but lost to INLD's Ranbir Gangwa by 7,115 votes. Chander Mohan, who was back as a Congress candidate, lost to BJP's Gian Chand Gupta by 5,633 votes in 2019 from Panchkula. He is again contesting from the Panchkula constituency in the 2024 Haryana Assembly polls against BJP candidate Gian Chand Gupta, Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Prem Garg, INLD's Dr Kshitij Choudhary and Jannayak Janta Party's (JJP) Sushil Garg.
