6. Machu Picchu (Peru)
Referred as the 'Lost city of the Incas', Machu Picchu is located in southern Peru. Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls. Its three primary structures are the Intihuatana (Hitching post of the Sun), the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. These are located in what is known by archaeologists as the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. The location was made a UNESCO world heritage in 1983. It was also named as one of the seven wonders of the world in 2007.
5. The Parthenon (Greece)
A temple dedicated to the maiden goddess Athena in Greece, The Parthenon was created in 5th century BC. The temple is used as a house of treasury and stands as a symbol of the power of Athens. Though a large part of the Parthenon has been destroyed by wars but luckily the structure still stands.
4. The Great Wall of China
Known as one of the seven wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China, was made of stone, bricks, wood and other materials. As the name suggests the Great Wall of China is located in China and is built on east to west line across the northern border of china to protect the Chinese empire. Several walls were being built as early as 7th century BC by Chinese Emperor.
