Mumbai: Two policemen were among six persons arrested yesterday in connection with last week's robbery where employees of a courier firm were looted of jewellery worth about Rs 5 crore on their way to the airport.
Constable Mayur Kamble (27) posted in an ACP's office in Navi Mumbai, and Mahadeo Dhengle (38), attached with State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), along with Abhijeet Salunkhe (25), Bhagaji Jawale (35), Khushbuddin Shaikh (26) and Naseem Shaikh (27) were apprehended, police said.
The accused were arrested from Mumbai and Pune, an officer of Bandra Police Station, where a case had been filed in this connection, said.
On November 14, four employees of Sai courier services were to deliver 60 packets of jewellery worth about Rs 5 crore at the domestic airport at Santa Cruz to be dispatched to Delhi, Jaipur and Chennai.
They left their office in Kalbadevi area at around 10:15 PM in a Maruti Swift car. The consignment was stacked in the vehicle's boot, police said.
