Life was tough but much simpler then.There was a time when kids used to got out and play cricket, rather than playing games or chatting on the internet.90s was a changing era of the new century and the former centuries gone by.Here is a tribute to the era which every Indian loved: 1. When every kid owned Champak and Chacha Chaudhary comics The most intelligent man on earth was Pran's Chacha Chaudhary, every kid grew up reading the comic series. 2. The Amul girl The chubby Amul girl cartoon who wore a white and blue polka dot frock became a huge hit. In the 1980s, cartoon artist Kumar Morey and script writer Bharat Dabholkar had been involved with sketching the Amul ads; the latter rejected the trend of using celebrities in advertisement campaigns.The ‘utterly butterly' delicious Amul jokes became a series and were published in newspapers too. Some of the more controversial Amul ads include one commenting on the Naxalite uprising in West Bengal, on the Indian Airlines employees strike, and one depicting the Amul butter girl wearing a Gandhi cap. 3. Video cassettes Collection of big Video cassettes was the trend. At that time, when there was one TV owned by the entire family, and Doordarshan was the only channel aired, video cassettes played a major source of entertainment. 4. Video game parlors Mario, fighter games, wrestling games, video game parlors were a recreation and luxury outings for the kids. 5. Every kid and youngster owned a walkman VCD players, laptops, DVD players did not exist. The source of personal entertainment was walkman. Every youngster, who owned one boasted as if he has owned a car. 6. Parle-G biscuit and the iconic girl on the packet The glucose biscuits were so much popular and even now. The yellow and white stripped packet with the girl printed on it is one of the oldest brands in India.The girl was imbibed illustration by an Everest creative back in the 60s. The low price was a major factor for the biscuit's popularity. 7. Disney hour Remember the popular ‘Disney hour' cartoon show that aired all the popular cartoons- ‘Chip and Dale, Ducktales, Tales Spin, Rescue Rangers, Tom and Jerry etc.Moms used to wake up children sharp at 9 am on Sundays to watch the cartoon show at the breakfast table. 8. Inland letter card The inland letter card was very popular and people used to communicate with it more than the big telephones at homes.The fact that it is folded over gives the writer twice as much room for the message compared with a postal card.The message is written on the inside and the card is then folded and sealed around the edges.The recipient tears off and discards the perforated selvages to open the card.9. Brown paperThe craft paper produced from chemical pulp with which students covered notebooks. We made the most of the paper's use to escape the scolding of the teacher. 10. Ramayan TV series Ramayan is a highly successful and phenomenally popular Indian epic television series created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar.The 78 episode series originally aired weekly on Doordarshan.During its original broadcast, Ramayan was enormously popular, drawing over 100 million viewers. People religiously woke up early to watch the popular series.
