You won’t be seeing the titular character Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah again. Everyone’s favurite Disha Vaani aka Dayaben has been officially ousted from the popular comedy show and as per the reports, this time not for returning. For the uninitiated, Disha Vakani took a maternity leave in October 2017 and delivered a baby girl in November. However, after the break, she asked the makers for some more time to resume working as she wanted to prioritize her baby girl. The makers agreed to her conditions.
Later when Disha was asked to return, she demanded a fee hike from Rs 1.25 lakh per episode to Rs 1.50 lakh. She also asked for a shorter duration of shift from 11 am to 6 pm and shoot allocation of only 15 days a month. According to the reports, Disha Vakani’s husband Mayur was also interfering which made difficult for the makers to negotiate with the actress. While the discussion was going on, Disha shot for the close up shots at her home for the show.
According to a SpotboyE report, Disha’s husband Mayur claimed that the producer Asit Modi owed his wife some dues. “This kind of interference (Disha’s husband Mayur’s) is difficult to understand. Our show is going well, TRPs without Daya Ben have not been affected. Every other actor is working hard on his/her track and we are converging well. If Disha wants to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, we will have to see if her comeback will justify the show. Plus, it will have to be on terms and conditions agreeable to Disha and Modi both,” the report read.
When a leading entertainment portal contacted producer Asit modi, he said, “Can't say about the authenticity of that news. I don't know."
When asked about Disha Vakani’s exit, he said, “Maybe true. I don't know about the final decision. My team is talking with her."
It’s been a year and half since Disha Vakani has been a part of the show on a full-time basis. It seems like her return is not happening soon.
