The actor-turned-politician said that violence was rampant during the erstwhile Left regime. "(Violence) is happening all over India, not just in Bengal."

Even as clashes were reported from West Bengal's Asansol in the fourth phase of polling of the Lok Sabha election, Trinamool Congress candidate from the seat, Moon Moon Sen, said she did not know anything because she had woken up late.

"I haven't heard anything. All I know is I have to go to Kulti. And I know that they gave me bed tea very late and I woke up very late. What can I say? I really do not know," Moon Moon Sen, the daughter of yesteryear Bengali actress, Suchitra Sen, was quoted as saying by IANS.

Moon Moon Sen, who is a TMC MP from Bankura, is up against Union Minister and BJP candidate Babul Supriyo.

Clashes were reported from a few polling booths on Monday morning between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Asansol's incumbent MP Babul Supriyo alleged his car was vandalised by TMC workers.

When asked about Supriyo's assertion, Moon Moon Sen said: "Don't say his name please. I won't talk then."

The actor-turned-politician said that violence was rampant during the erstwhile Left regime. "(Violence) is happening all over India, not just in Bengal."

Asked about the pre-poll communal violence in the area and whether she had spoken to the victims, Sen said, "I haven't. We are not involved in the riots. I have been busy campaigning for Trinamool and myself."
