Covid India Updates: Health Ministry shares new guidelines for Covid patients in home isolation

The government has advised patients with mild to moderate symptoms to stay under home quarantine and consult the doctor accordingly. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also laid out new guidelines that include taking steam.

As the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic rages throughout the country, people are struggling for medical assistance. The government has advised patients with mild to moderate symptoms to stay under home quarantine and consult the doctor accordingly. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also laid out new guidelines that include taking steam. People who have recovered from Covid have also been witnessing other problems like digestive issues, heart problems and black fungus infection. Experts advise everyone to take care of their hygiene and consult their doctor before taking any hard medicines.

    COVID: NSUI launches helpline to assist people register for vaccination

    The National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday launched a helpline to assist people to get themselves registered for Covid-19 vaccination. The NSUI will also provide pick and drop facility for senior residents who are staying alone in the city.

    Delhi COVID cases

    Delhi on Wednesday reported 3,846 cases, the lowest since April 5, and 235 fatalities while the positivity rate dipped to 5.78 per cent, according to the latest health bulletin released by the state government. This is the third day on the trot that the number of cases has remained below 5,000.

    Black Fungus claims 90 lives in Maharashtra

    Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday infromed that at least 90 people have died after getting infected with Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) so far in the state.

    Doctors have raised an alarm about Mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, which can turn dangerous if left untreated, amid reports of re-emergence of the rare deadly fungal infection among Covid-19 patients across hospitals in Delhi, Pune and Ahmedabad.

    Maharashtra COVID cases

    Amid the rising cases of coronavirus pandemic, Maharashtra recorded as many as 34,031 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total tally of infections in the state to 54,67,537. As many as 594 deaths were reported in the state today, taking the total tally of fatalities to 84,371 in Maharashtra.

    51,457 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered patients to 49,78,937. The number of active cases stands at 4,01,695.

    WHO gives Emergency Use Authorisation to Moderna's COVID jab

    The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday listed the Moderna coronavirus vaccine for emergency use, adding another shot to its arsenal in the fight against the coronavirus. According to The Hill, the shot from Moderna joins shots from Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca-SK Bio, Serum Institute of India and Janssen on WHO's list of emergency use vaccines.

    4529 single day COVID-19 fatalities in India

    India on Wednesday recorded 2,67,334 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 4529 deaths due to the infection. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 3,89,851 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,19,86,363. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 2,54,96,330, with 32,26,719 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 2,83,248. A total of 18,58,09,302 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.

    The government lays out new guidelines for people with mild to moderate symptoms of covid and staying in home isolation. It states that there is no need to buy or apply Remedecivir injection without a doctor's consultation for those staying at home. This injection will be administered only in hospitals. According to the new guideline, patients have to gargle with hot water twice a day and also take steam. Along with this, the medicines will have to be consumed on time along with being in contact with the doctor.
