5:09 PM (Hockey): A bunch of 18 fearless and determined Indian women did the unthinkable when they stunned three-time champions Australia and entered the semifinals for the first time. And it's not yet over! India women still have a chance to make history by winning the bronze. 

5:05 PM (Hockey): It's all over! A valiant Indian women side has suffered a 1-2 defeat in the semi-finals. What a spirited performance at the Tokyo showpiece from Rani Rampal's army.

4:59 PM (Hockey): India pressing hard now but only a minute to go!

4:54 PM (Hockey): The Argentinian goalkeeper denies India from scoring the equalizer. Full marks to Argentina's defence too! They crowded the circle and saved the crucial penalty corner. Eight minutes to go and India are fighting hard to equalize. 

4:52 PM (Hockey): Penalty corner for India! Less than 10 minutes to go and India are in dire need of the equaliser!

4:44 PM (Hockey): End of the third quarter and India women are trailing by 1 goal. The fourth and final quarter will be a crucial one for Rani Rampal and Co.

4:32 PM (Hockey): 2-1! The Argentinian captain strikes again! Argentina take the lead as Maria Noel converts the penalty corner. Argentina have continuously attacked since the last quarter and they've finally taken a lead against the Indians.

4:30 PM (Hockey): Argentina win a penalty corner! India under pressure.

4:20 PM (Hockey): Argentina have penetrated the circle 11 times so far while the Indian women have managed to do it on six occasions. You can expect world no. 2 Argentina to come out with all guns blazing in the second half.

4:14 PM (Hockey): 1-1 at the end of second quarter! Argentina has been putting tremendous pressure on Indian women but the scoreline still remains 1-1. 

4:05 PM (Hockey): The scoreline still remains 1-1 with just over three minutes to go for the end of second quarter. Everybody falling back now to deny Argentina from scoring the second.

4:04 PM (Hockey): Salima Tete wins a penalty corner for India but a good save by the Argentinan goalkeeper.

3:57 PM (Hockey): 1-1! Argentina score the equalizer in the second quarter. India dominated the first quarter but the opposition has been ruling it in the second. Barrionuevo Maria Noel makes it 1-1.

3:48 PM (Hockey): End of the first quarter and India are 1-0 up against Argentina! India won just one penalty corner in the quarter and Gurjit Kaur rose to the occasion with a goal. Three more quarters to go!

3:33 PM (Hockey): 1-0! The Indian women's hockey team is now 1-0 up against Argentina! Gurjit Kaur converts the penalty corner to give India an early lead.

3:26 PM (Wrestling): It's all over for Punia as he loses in semis. USA's Taylor comprehensively takes the bout 10-0 by technical superiority. He'll now aim to clinch the bronze medal tomorrow.

3:25 PM (Wrestling): Taylor has taken a 9-0 lead in the first period! Brilliant performance by Taylor.

3:22 PM: (Wrestling): Punia (86kg) is making his way into the ring. He takes on David Taylor (USA) in the semifinal bout.

3:14 PM: What a day it's been for the Indian contingent. Neeraj has qualified for the javelin throw finals, Lovlina has signed off with a bronze, and Ravi has assured India of a medal! The women's hockey team and Deepak Punia will be in action in a few minutes.

3:10 PM (Wrestling): Dahiya will contest in the final on Thursday and he'll be the first wrestler to enter the final after Sushil Kumar. Sushil was in the gold medal bout in the 2012 London Games where he had settled for a silver.

3:00 PM (Wrestling): Dahiya's medal will be India's fourth medal at the Tokyo Olympics so far! All eyes are on Deepak Punia (86kg) now in his semifinals bout.

2:55 PM (Wrestling): What a turnaround by Dahiya! Ravi Kumar Dahiya wins against Nurislam Sanayev and assures India of another medal at the Tokyo showpiece. Dahiya registers a come-from-behind win to defeat Sanayev by victory by fall (VFA)

2:53 PM (Wrestling): Nurislam Sanayev has stormed to take a 9-2 lead. He's suddenly changed the course of this match!

2:50 PM (Wrestling): Ravi, the reigning Asian champ, is leading 2-1 at the end of the first period!

2:42 PM (Wrestling): Ravi Kumar Dahiya is in the ring for his semifinal bout against the Kazakhstan wrestler.

2:39 PM (Golf): Aditi Ashok is tied at 2nd rank, 4 under par (-4) with 67 points after the end of Round 1.

2:26 PM (Hockey): After Ravi and Deepak's bouts, the focus will shift towards the India women's hockey team! The Rani Rampal-led side is up against Argentina in the women's hockey semi-final at 3:30 PM IST. A win will assure India of a historic silver.

2:20 PM (Wrestling): Ravi Dahiya (57kg) is all set to take on Nurislam Sanayev (Kazakhstan) for a place in the final. The semi-final will start at 2:45 PM IST. Deepak Punia (86kg) will also face David Taylor (USA) in the semi-final at 3:00 PM IST. 

12.30 PM: (Golf) Aditi Ashok is currently tied 2nd after finishing her first round at 4-under through 18 holes. Her total score is 67. A long way to go, but a very strong start from the Indian golfer!

Diksha Dagar, however, is struggling with three-over par with one hole left.

11.28 AM: (Boxing) And with this bronze, India have also bettered their overall medal tally from Rio Olympics! India won two medals (one silver, one bronze) in 2016.

11.23 AM: (Boxing) And so, India's challenge in boxing ends with a bronze medal for Lovlina Borgohain. Not the most satisfactory of performances from the other Indian boxers but Borgohain could be incredibly proud -- a bronze on Olympic debut is a phenomenal achievement!

11.20 AM: (Boxing) Indian medalists in Boxing at Olympics (All have won Bronze medals):

  • LOVLINA BORGOHAIN - Tokyo 2020

11.17 AM: (Boxing) And that's it. Surmeneli wins the bout by unanimous decision, and India's Lovlina Borgohain has become the third Indian to win a medal in Boxing at Olympics!

11.12 AM: (Boxing) Another unanimous decision in favour of Surmeneli. A tinge of desperation in how Lovlina punched throughout the second round, and she also earned a point deduction towards the end. A third Olympic bronze in Boxing for India is very likely now.

11.08 AM: (Boxing) End of first round! Turkey's Busenaz Surmeneli wins by unanimous decision (5-0). A very aggressive start from the Turkish World Champion as she rained punches on Lovlina throughout the first minute of the game. The Indian aimed at recovery but couldn't find the accuracy needed to make a turnaround.

11.03 AM: (Boxing) Lovlina Borgohain now enters the boxing ring for the semifinal bout against reigning world champion, Turkey's Busenaz Surmeneli.

10.57 AM: (Golf) Meanwhile, Aditi Ashok is putting out a stunning shift in the first round of women's golf. She is currently tied 2nd with the score of four under-par.

10.53 AM: (Boxing) Reminder that Borgohain has already assured a bronze medal. Even if she loses the bout against Surmeneli, the Indian will stand on the podium at the Olympics. Her bout is scheduled to start at 11 AM.

10.40 AM: (Boxing) The odds are tilted towards Surmeneli in the bout against Borgohain -- however, if the Indian boxer manages to defeat Surmeneli, she will become the first Indian to play in a boxing final in Olympic history.

Vijender Kumar and Mary Kom have both won bronze medals for India in boxing so far.

10.25 AM: (Boxing) In about 35 minutes from now, India's Lovlina Borgohain will aim a shot at history when she faces the reigning world champion, Turkey's Busenaz Surmeneli for a place in the final of the women's welterweight category.

9.54 AM: (Wrestling) Anshu Malik, meanwhile, remains in fray for repechage as her victor Iryna Kurachkina has reached the semifinals of women's 57kg category.

9:50 AM (Wrestling): Deepak Punia faces David Taylor (USA) while Ravi Kumar Dahiya takes on Nurislam Sanayev (Kazakhstan) in the semis of their respective weight categories. 

9:40 AM (Wrestling): Deepak Punia also books semi-final berth. He defeats China's Lin Zushen in a thrilling bout. In the closing minute, Punia gained a three-point lead to win 6-3. Both Punia and Dahiya have been excellent so far.

9:37 AM (Wrestling): It's all over! Ravi Kumar Dahiya has won the bout 14-4 by technical superiority to make the semifinals. Punia, in the QF bout, had also nailed a 13-2 win against Colombia's Tigreros Urbano.

9:36 AM (Wrestling): Punia is also leading 3-1 against China's Lin Zushen. Both the Indian wrestlers on the verge of making SFs.

9:32 AM (Wrestling): Dahiya is off to an impressive start. He leads 6-0 at the end of the first period! The world championships bronze medallist is making this a one-sided affair.

9:30 AM (Wrestling): Ravi Dahiya's bout begins!

9:25 AM (Wrestling): Dahiya is the reigning Asian champion and he will look to dictate the Bulgarian and enter the semi-final.

9:17 AM (Wrestling): Ravi Kumar Dahiya in action next! He faces Bulgaria's Georgi Valentinov Vangelo in the quarter-final.

9:07 AM (Wrestling): It's all over! Deepak Punia has booked his place in the quarters! He wins 12-1 by technical superiority. Agiomor never looked in the contest after the first period as Punia advances further with a comprehensive win. Deepak Punia and Ravi Kumar Dahiya have made QFs while Anshu Malik has lost her bout. The 19-year-old Anshu still has a chance in repechage if her opponent Kurachkina reaches the final.

9:05 AM (Wrestling): Punia is now showcasing his superiority. It's 7-1 now! It's turning into a one-sided contest. Punia so far is in complete control of the bout. 

9:04 AM (Wrestling): Punia finishes the first period 4-1. A dominant start by Punia as we head to the second period comprising three minutes. 

9:02 AM (Wrestling): An excellent start for Punia! He takes the first two points but the Nigerian fights back and takes one point to make it 2-1.

9:00 AM (Wrestling): Punia in the ring. Nothing to choose between the two wrestlers!

08:59 AM (Wrestling): Dahiya will next face Bulgaria's Georgi Valentinov Vangelo in the quarter-final.

08:53 AM (Wrestling): In the men's freestyle 86kg, Deepak Punia takes on Nigeria's Ekerekeme Agiomor. The Indian wrestler will be up against the African championship bronze medallist.

08.40 AM: (Wrestling) Anshu Malik loses. She made a good start in the second period but eventually conceded two technical points to concede a 2-8 defeat. However, Malik still has a chance in repechage if Kurachkina reaches the final.

08.34 AM: (Wrestling) Kurachkina dominates Anshu Malik throughout the whole first period of the bout, securing three points on technical superiority and one courtesy Malik's passivity. She leads 4-0.

08.32 AM: (Wrestling) Anshu Malik will now begin her campaign in Freestyle 57kg category against Belarus' Iryna Kurachkina.

08.24 AM: (Wrestling) And that's it! A fairly easy bout for Ravi Dahiya as he wins on technical superiority! 13-2 against Oscar Tigeros. A series of two pointers in the second period against the Colombian opponent and Ravi cruises to quarters.

08.20 AM: (Wrestling) The Indian wrestler leads 3-2 at the end of first period. Both, Dahiya and Tigeros scored two technical points each before Dahiya eventually took a lead after edging the opponent out.

08.17 AM: (Wrestling) Ravi Dahiya's bout begins.

08.10 AM: (Wrestling) Ravi Dahiya will now be in action in the round-of-16 of men's 57kg category against Colombia's Oscar Tigeros.

08.05 AM: (Men's Javelin Throw) Final list of athletes who have qualified for the final. A few surprises as London Olympics 2012 Gold Medalist Keshorn Walcott and Anderson Peters, the 2019 World Champion in Doha are out of final. Neeraj with a good chance for podium finish.

07.55 AM: (Wrestling) India's Ravi Dahiya will soon be in action against Colombia's Oscar Tigeros.

07.48 AM: (Men's Javelin Throw) Disappointing performance from Shivpal. His third attempt is 74.81, and he is officially out of contention for a spot in the final.

07.42 AM: (Men's Javelin Throw) Shivpal has slipped to 11th position after failing to improve on his first attempt. The Indian might as well have to better his season best if he wants to stay alive in contention for a final spot.

07.34 AM: (Men's Javelin Throw) Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, meanwhile, secures automatic qualification with a 85.16m throw. He joins Germany's Julian Weber in the group who also breached the 83.50m mark to advance to final.

07.32 AM: (Men's Javelin Throw) A poorer attempt from Shivpal this time. He throws 74.80m.

07.27 AM: (Men's Javelin Throw) Shivpal is 9th after the first attempts. The combined top-12 from Group A and B will advance to the final of the event. The Indian needs to improve massively on his first performance to stand a chance.

5.20 AM: One of India's strongest medal hopes, Neeraj Chopra will begin his campaign today in the men's javelin throw event. He is placed in the Group A of qualification, which starts in 15 minutes from now.

5:15 AM: Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of Day 12 of India's action at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. After a quiet and disappointing Day 11, India will have a rather action-filled Wednesday where Rani Rampal-led women's team will be in action against Argentina in the semis with the aim to grab their first-ever Olympic medal. Here's all you can expect from the Indian contingent on Wednesday, August 4.
