Wherever I go this (Azaan) is a headache for me. No doubt this will end soon as there is an SC judgement, said BJP MLA KS Eshwarappa in Mangaluru.

Karnataka: BJP MLA KS Eshwarappa made an objectionable statement when he shared his comfort over the recitation of Azaan in Mosques saying it has become a headache for him.

Addressing a gathering in Mangaluru, BJP MLA KS Eshwarappa said, "...wherever I go this (Azaan) is a headache for me. No doubt this will end soon as there is an SC judgement. PM Modi asked to respect all religions, but I must ask can Allah hear only if you scream on a microphone?"

"Hindus also pray in temples. We have more faith than them and it's Bharat mata who protects religions. But if you say that Allah listens only if you pray using a microphone, I must question if He's deaf. This issue must be resolved," Eshwarappa added.

The BJP MLA further said that exams are going on in Karnataka right now, students and parents are complaining that due to Azaan and loudspeaker, students are unable to study properly. This is not a good thing.

"We call people who need to be heard through loudspeakers as deaf. The Supreme Court had given the order in this regard. This problem is going to be solved. There shall be no doubts in this regard," Eshwarappa maintained.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a call to respect all religions. But, will Allah listen to prayers only if done on loudspeakers," he asked.

"We also carry out worship in our temples. Sholaks and bhajans are performed. Even we have more devoutness and respect towards God than them," BJP MLA added.

"If at all there is any country which saves religion it is only India," Eshwarappa said.
