Asad encounter: Mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, brother Ashraf shed tears inside CJM court in Prayagraj

Asad encounter: Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday was granted 7-day remand of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf CJM court in Prayagraj in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case. Earlier both brothers were brought to court amid high-security deployment.

Asad encounter: Mafia-turned-politician and father of Asad, Atiq Ahmed got emotional inside CJM court in Prayagraj today (April 13) after receiving information about his son's encounter by the UPSTF team. Asad's uncle and Atiq's brother Ashraf also shed tears inside the court on Thursday. 

Asad, son of Atiq Ahmed and shooter Ghulam - both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh each- was today killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (UPSTF). 

The team of UPSTF was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Navendu and Vimal in Jhansi. From the operation, sophisticated foreign-made weapons were recovered, police said.

Police custody of Atiq, Ashraf: 

Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday was granted 7-day remand of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf CJM court in Prayagraj in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case. Earlier both brothers were brought to court amid high-security deployment.  

While Atiq Ahmed was brought to Prayagraj via road from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat for his production, his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf was brought from a Bareilly jail.
