ABES college row: Two faculty members suspended for taking action against student who chanted 'Jai Shri Ram'

A controversy erupted after a student was asked to leave the stage by a faculty member after he chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' during an event at the ABES college campus.

Ghaziabad: Two faculty members of the ABES engineering college have been suspended after a controversy erupted when they asked a student to leave the stage as he chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' during an induction ceremony on the campus.

The decision to suspend the faculty members was taken on the recommendation of the high-level committee constituted by the college authority.

Addressing the matter, ABES Director Professor Sanjay Kumar said, "...a high-level inquiry committee was constituted and asked to give its recommendation within 24 hours on the entire matter... its recommendations have come and on the basis of that we are suspending the two faculty members for their inappropriate behaviour."

The two faculty members who have been suspended are Mamata Gautam and Dr Shweta Sharma.

 

Amid this, Hindu Raksha Dal had planned a protest against the faculty member who asked the student to get down from the stage for chanting Jai Shri Ram.

Meanwhile, a police official informed that they were investigating the matter. No action will be taken against the student in this regard, the college authority has clarified.
