Chennai Super Kings suffered a major blow as pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out for two weeks due to a hamstring injury and most likely to sit out the rest of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

The pacer suffered the injury during Match 27 where Chennai Super Kings clashed with rivals Mumbai Indians, where the latter team won by 8 wickets as Rohit Sharma's half century led them to victory at the MCA stadium in Pune.

"He (Chahar) has had hamstring injuries in the past, he has a pretty good idea when he is in trouble," espncricinfo quoted CSK's coach Stephen Fleming as saying.

"Conservatively, it's probably a couple of weeks, which is a bit of a blow," Fleming added.

Chahar's situation does come as a major blow for the team after his brilliant performances so far and has been instrumental as well at times.

Chahar has played in all the games for Super Kings so far and has picked six wickets at an average of 25.50, including a match-winning 3 for 15 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, Fleming did confirm that Lungi Ngidi, who flew back to South Africa after the demise of his father, has rejoined the CSK squad.

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will next face Delhi Daredevils on April 30 (Monday) at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
