Last days of Afzal Guru in Tihar jail, was staying 20 metres away from hangman's noose

New Delhi, Feb 9 : Mohammed Afzal Guru, the main convict in the Parliament atttack case, was counting his last days inside the high-security Tihar Jail in Delhi , when his  mercy petition was with



 "There was a huge pile of books inside Afzal Guru's ward. He had an FM Radio which airs only two stations. He occasionally listened to music but  never interacted  much with anybody," said a jail official.  

Afzal Guru  used to wake up early in the morning and began his day with namaz. For breakfast, he  used to drink half-a-litre milk.His food  used to be served according to the jail manual.

Afzal Guru  used to undergo medical check-up almost every week, which is the norm in the jail.

Unlike other prisoners, the gate to Guru's ward remained open all the time. At times, he interacted  with the Tamil Nadu policemen who guarded his cell.

Afzal Guru  was also allowed to take a round in the garden outside his cell but in the company of the policemen.
