Afzal Guru used to undergo medical check-up almost every week, which is the norm in the jail.
Unlike other prisoners, the gate to Guru's ward remained open all the time. At times, he interacted with the Tamil Nadu policemen who guarded his cell.
Afzal Guru was also allowed to take a round in the garden outside his cell but in the company of the policemen.
