Delhi: Three-year-old dies in Paharganj building collapse; three injured

The call about the building collapse was received at 8.40 pm. In the rescue mission, so far, two girls and their father have been rescued. A three-year-old, however, succumbed to injuries, officials said.

Delhi: A building collapsed in Delhi's Paharganj area on Thursday, near Khanna market. Seven fire engines were rescued to the spot, Delhi fire department officials had said.  

The call about the building collapse was received at 8.40 pm. In the rescue mission, so far, two girls and their father have been rescued. A three-year-old, however, succumbed to injuries, officials said. 

Amjad, his sisters Zareena (one-and-a-half years old) and Alifa (eight years) and their father Md. Zaheer (52) were pulled out from the debris. They were taken to Kalawati Hospital where Amjad was declared dead, the officials said. 

Suresh Malik, Divisional Warden-Paharganj, Civil Defence said, "We are assisting the agencies conducting the rescue operation."

A senior fire official said a search is on for other people suspected to be trapped under the debris.
