The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday raided the Jodhpur residence of Agrasen Gehlot, the brother of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The searches are underway at nearly 17 other locations in Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal as well, sources said.

Agrasen is a fertiliser trader. He was earlier questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged fertiliser scam.

The raids come after the central probe agency registered a new case of corruption against Agrasen and others. The case is related to the alleged diversion of fertilisers meant for farmers. The CBI has named 15 persons, including Agrasen, and entities as accused in the FIR.

The raids come amid the nationwide protests by Congress over Rahul Gandhi's grilling by the ED in a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper case.

'Vendetta politics', says Congress

Meanwhile, the grand old party has termed the raids as vendetta politics by the BJP and said it will not be silenced by such tactics.

"This is vendetta politics beyond all bounds. Ashok Gehlot was at the forefront of the protests in Delhi over the past three days, and this is Modi Government's brazen response! We will not be silenced," Congress chief spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said on Twitter.
