NIA and Police to jointly investigate recent civilian killings in Jammu, says Amit Shah in Rajouri

Amit Shah's J&K visit: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a meeting to review the security situation in the valley which was attended by senior officers of the Armed Forces and intelligence agencies. The Home Minister after the high-level meeting in Jammu said NIA and Jammu Police will together investigate the recent civilian killings case.

"Govt of India has given the investigation of both the incidents (terror attack in Dhangri in Jan 1st week), that took place over the course of 2 days, to NIA. The NIA & Jammu Police will together investigate it," Amit Shah after a high-level meeting in Jammu.

"We have a plan in place to beef up the security arrangements in the Valley in the next three months. I also assure that Indian Army is capable to handle any situation," he added.

Before the meeting, he also interacted with one of the aggrieved families. "Union Home Minister Amit Shah interacted with us over a phone call. He assured us to visit us on his next visit. I lost my both sons during the Dhangri attack (1st week of January 2023). I urged him to provide us justice & tight answer to their killers: Saroj Bala, mother of attack victims said.

The Union Home Ministery reached the Jammu airport on Friday noon where he was received by Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha.

According to reports, security has been beefed up in the Rajouri district ahead of the Union Minister's visit. The officials said that multi-tier security arrangements have been made in the district's Dhangri hamlet where roads have been repaired and CCTV cameras installed. 

In the Dhangri hamlet, the twin terror strikes had left seven members of the minority community - including two children - dead and fourteen others injured. The Union Home Minister will meet members of all three families who have suffered loss in the terrorist attack, officials said.

Security has been heightened in Rajouri district

They further informed that massive security arrangements have been put in place in Rajouri district ahead of the Union minister's visit and the entire Dhangri area of Rajouri has been turned into a restricted zone. Restrictions will also be put in place on normal movement of people on Friday morning till late afternoon hours, they said.

Officials said a multi-tier security cover has been put in place comprising of security personnel of the police and the CAPF, while troops of Indian Army will also guard the higher reaches.
