From Narendra Modi to Anand Mahindra, Yoga fever catches on

Yoga helps you keep you happy and healthy. Celebrities swear by it and there's proof.

As the country prepares to celebrate the 3rd International Yoga Day on June 21, not just the common man but celebrities too are all geared up to bend and stretch doing asanas. All of us know that the Prime Minister is a big fan of Yoga and has been urging the countrymen to take it up. He tweeted: "Through this video, know how to practice Vakrasana and the gains of practising it. #YogaDay"

In 2015, Modi had announced the arrival of a new Yoga era, with the first International Day of Yoga being observed across the world. Leading a mass yoga demonstration at Rajpath in New Delhi, the Prime Minister declared that the sun would not set on the community of Yoga practitioners.

Looks like Anand Mahindra, Executive Chairman, Mahindra Group, is also a Yoga enthusiast. We have seen him tweet about the practice time and again. In fact he had once trolled NYT over a research study on breathing exercises. He tweeted a whatsapp forward, on how to do Suryanamaskar while sitting at the desk. 

Yoga is for everyone. There are some Bollywood celebrities who swear by Yoga. Actors like Malaika Arora Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Nargis Fakhri and Lara Dutta practice Yoga to keep in shape. All of us know that Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been a yoga lover for years and her fabulous body is ample proof of her love. She has released a number of DVDs to promote yoga.

Lara Dutta practices yoga daily, and even has her own channel on YouTube, where she offers a number of videos on yoga. Lara also did parental yoga when she was pregnant. Bipasha Basu is also a big fan of Yoga. 

United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as an International Yoga Day on 11th December, 2014.
