Bollywood diva Sushmita Sen has been away from the ‘lights, camera. action’  world for far too long. While she was always in news for endorsing social issues, she was last seen in Akshaye Khanna-Anil Kapoor-starrer No Problem in 2000. But now the actress is ready to bounce back onscreen as she has given her nod to a film.

According to the reports in DNA, it is learned that Sushmita Sen will end her eight-year-long hiatus and will play the role of a tough cop in her next film. The reports suggest, “Sushmita was approached for a movie that plays out in a small town in which her character is the protagonist. It’s a crime-based drama  set in Madhya Pradesh wherein she plays a tough cop.”

It is also being said that the actress was offered the role earlier in the year but she took her time to give her nod to the film. The report also reveals, “Meanwhile, the film has changed hands — there’s a new director who will be on board. Sushmita, too, gave her inputs after she heard the narration. The makers decided to alter the script and make the necessary changes, post which, she gave a go ahead. The modalities are currently being worked out. Once that is done, she will sign on the dotted line.”

Fans are waiting to watch their favorite actress back on screen and this has definitely come as a good news for them. Sushmita Sen has always been an advocate of women rights and status in the society. Her next role also drops light on the same. Talking about the same in an interview earlier, Sushmita said, "The new generation of women and even men are far more supportive of each other. I find this excellent. There was a time when everybody was busy doing 'What is she wearing? How is she looking?' I am happy that is changing now. I am very glad to see that because my children are growing in that environment."
