Delhi: 3-year-old girl dies after hit by car driven by IAF officer's son

The accused has been identified as Samark Malik, 20, who has been arrested. The offending vehicle has been seized, police said.

Delhi: A three-and-a-half-year-old girl was killed in Delhi's Cantonment area on Sunday after she was allegedly hit by a car driven by the son of an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer.

The accused has been identified as Samark Malik, 20, who has been arrested. The offending vehicle has been seized, police said. 

Malik is a first-year student at a private university in Noida, said deputy commissioner of police (southwest).

According to police, the accused was driving a Hyundai Creta which has now been seized. 

Police also said that Malik didn't excape after the accident. He took the injured girl along with her family members to Delhi Cantonment hospital.

From there, he took them to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital and finally to the RML hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

"On the complaint of the mother, who is a domestic help in Arjan Vihar, an FIR under 279/304A sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered," Delhi Police said.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
