A team of the Delhi Crime Branch on Friday reached Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence to hand over a notice in a case. According to sources, the team visited to serve notice in a matter wherein Kejriwal had alleged that attempts were made to "buy" his party's MLAs.
The team visited the residences of Kejriwal and Delhi Minister Atishi to serve notices, but they went unclaimed at both locations. Neither Kejriwal nor Atishi was present at their respective residences during the visit, resulting in the unsuccessful delivery of the notices. According to a statement by the CM House, officials were ready to take notice, but the policemen left without giving it to them.
Crime Branch to visit again on Feb 3
The sources in the Delhi Police said Crime Branch teams will visit their residences again on Saturday to give them the notices, as per news agency PTI. This comes days after the Delhi BJP submitted a complaint to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora in the matter.
Allegations by Atishi
During a press conference held last week, Delhi Minister Atishi made allegations against the BJP, asserting that the party had offered Rs 25 crore each to seven of AAP's MLAs to encourage them to leave the party.
Additionally, she claimed that the BJP had issued threats to overthrow the Kejriwal government. Atishi further stated that there was a recorded conversation with an individual who had contacted one of the party MLAs, and she intended to present the recording at an opportune time.
Delhi BJP hits back at Kejriwal over allegations
In a post on X, Kejriwal had claimed last week that seven of his party MLAs had been contacted by the "them". After his allegations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva had hit back saying, "This shows how much politically desperate Kejriwal has become. This unfounded allegation by him is an attempt to keep himself politically alive. The allegation that the BJP wants to break away MLAs of the ruling AAP, having 62 out of 70 MLAs in Delhi, shows his mental bankruptcy."
