Baba Ramdev on India TV Budget Samvaad: 'Middle class not happy with budget, there should be no tax on income up to Rs 5 lakh'

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev today said that the middle class is not happy with the Union Budget 2018-19, which was presented by the Modi government on Thursday.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev today said that the middle class is not happy with the Union Budget 2018-19, which was presented by the Modi government on Thursday. 

Speaking at India TV’s Budget Conclave 2018, Ramdev said, “Middle class is not very happy with the budget as I have already said, Modi govt should bring its attention towards this”. 

Ramdev, however, said that the budget has been unbiased, and in favour of the common man, especially the rural population. 

Speaking at India TV’s Budget Conclave 2018, Ramdev said, “This budget does not talk of casteism, rather it throws light on the areas that need development in the country”.

He also said that for the first time, the government has given out a huge sum for the development of the poor and weaker sections of the society.

Hailing the Modi government’s ‘Ujjawala Yojana’, the Yoga guru said that the scheme is aimed at the welfare of the women, adding that four crore women have already been provided gas cylinders under it. 

Baba Ramdev said that the government should put in efforts in education and healthcare sectors, as these two things should be free for the people. “Medicines and literacy should be same for everyone regardless of the class, according to me. There should be uniformity,” he said. 

Heaping praises on Narendra Modi, Ramdev said that the prime minister is on top when it comes to abiding by ‘Rashtradharm’. 

“The country was suffering from political crisis when Modi ji became the PM, but the whole country is thankful to our Prime Minister for whatever he has done for the country,” he said.

Questioned about the middle class being unhappy with the Budget, Ramdev opined that the prices of petrol, diesel and gas should be reduced for the good of the common man. 

He also said that no tax should be imposed on income up to Rs 5 lakh. 

Talking about the promotion of Ayurveda in the country, Ramdev criticised the Ayush ministry, saying that he is not happy with its work. Without naming anyone, Ramdev said that there are people sitting there and lobbying. 

Questioned about people facing problems with GST, the Yoga guru said that the procedures of filing GST are very complicated and the government should take steps in that area. 

Ramdev said that the condition of famers in the country is alarming, and that there is no profit in agriculture at this time. “There is no profit in agriculture at this time. The farmers are only earning their daily wages,” he said. 

“But I appreciate the steps that the Modi govt has taken for the farmers and their development. We all are hopeful that the situation will improve in the years to come,” he added. 

Questioned about the miserable conditions of the government schools and hospitals in the country, Ramdev said, “There are a lot of lapses in health and education in our country. Not only government schools, but the govt hospitals should also be looked upon. The number of doctors in the govt hospitals in not sufficient”.
