Watch | 92-year-old woman attends primary school in UP's Bulandshahr

A 92-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr attended a primary school along with other students. Salima Khan who attended the school said that she likes to study and can now count notes.

Bulandshahr: In a rare show of confidence and will to study, a 92-year-old woman attended a primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr.

"I like to study... I attend school, now I can count notes...," said Salima Khan as she took classes in a primary school.

Speaking about Salima Khan, Headmaster of primary school Chawli, Dr Pratibha Sharma said, "...I told her if she came and studied in the school, I would arrange her pension, she got inspired by this... now she can count up to 100, can write her own name."

Salima Khan was identified as a potential student by some volunteers which is a part of government's education initiative, an official said.

Who is Salima Khan?

Salima Khan was born in 1931 and married at the age of 14. She had a dream of being able to read and write, however, during her growing years, there was no school in Bulandshahr.

But now, she is attending classes in a school and trying to learn the basics.

Her grandson’s wife takes her to the school where she shares the classroom with students almost 80 years younger than her.
