Anna, the female green anaconda, a resident of all female aquarium, gives birth to 18 baby anacondas. In an aquarium in Boston, 18 Anacondas took birth and surprised everyone. According to the reports of VOA News, 18 offsprings took birth from a virgin mother. However, only two managed to survive.

Reportedly, these baby anacondas were born with an unusual form of asexual production which is known as parthenogenesis or "virgin birth" in Greek.
According to the Boston Globe, these young snakes are the clones of their mother.

The process of 'Parthenogenesis' is rare among vertebrates. Not just this, the fact is, the case of Anna is only the second known instance of parthenogenesis or asexual reproduction in green anacondas.

"So with vertebrate species like this anaconda it's mostly been reported in animals that are held in captivity," said Sara Tempesta, an employee of the New England Aquarium. "So it seems to be something with holding these animals apart from males for many years that sort of cues them into reproducing in a different way."

The anaconda babieshave been taken care of without any exposure to the audience. They have not yet been put in the exhibit.
