Spain's Rafael Nadal continued to hold the number one spot in the men's Association of Tennis Professionals world single rankings released on Monday, with 10,645 points, surpassing runner-up Roger Federer of Switzerland. The Spaniard has lifted the ATP World No.1 trophy despite an injured ridden year but has surpassed many expectations to end the year topping the rankings.

Roger Federer was eventually close to catching the Spaniard but injury as well has caused the Swiss maestro to miss out on many occasions. This is the first time after a decade that Serbian shuttler Novak Djokovic is missing from the top 10 as injury caused the former World No.1 to miss out on events that caused to him to miss out on the action.

Germany's Alexander Zverev came third with 4,410 points, followed by Dominic Thiem of Austria, reports Efe.
