Pro Kabaddi League 2017: Dabang Delhi name Meraj Sheykh as captain

Dabang Delhi will begin their campaign on July 29 against Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Dabang Delhi on Monday named Iranian all-rounder Meraj Sheykh as their captain for the ninth edition of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), beginning on July 28. Dabang Delhi will begin their campaign on July 29 against Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Retaining Sheykh as skipper from the last year, the Delhi team signed players such as experienced defenders Nilesh Shinde, Bajirao Hodage and Sunil Kumar and energetic raiders Ravi Dalal, Rohit Baliyan, Suresu and Abolfazel Maghsoudlou. 

The franchise has further strengthened its raiding unit by adding young guns Anand Patil, Shubham Palkar and Vipin Malik along with Viraj Vishnu Landge, Swapnil Shinde, Satpal forming the defense unit. 

The team also has more all-rounders this season including Tapas Pal, Vishal, Rupesh Tomar, S. Chetan and Yatharth.

Sheykh said: "The team is looking good and we have young and fit players to last the longer season. We have skilled and experienced players in all departments and the young guns add depth to the Dabang squad. 

 

"With utility players across the team, our aim is to be the team to watch this season."
