New Delhi: The six Hero Hockey India league franchises today picked 49 Indian and overseas players for USD 1.37 million in closed bids.



Team India player Ramandeep Singh was the top pick for $ 81,000 which went to Uttar Pradesh Wizards.

Among overseas players, Ryan Archibald went for $ 71,000 to Kalinga Lancers, while Indian forward Nikin Thimmaiah got the second highest bid among domestic players for $59,000 and was bought by UP Wizards.

Out of the total 154 players, the list of 49 players who were sold in the auction included 28 Indians and 21 overseas players.

Kalinga Lancers from Odisha bought 24 new players, while Ranchi Rhinos bought one, Dabur Mumbai Magicians bought 11, Uttar Pradesh Wizards bought four, Jaypee Punjab Warriors bought five and Delhi Waveriders bought four players.

The six franchises spent USD 1.37 million to buy 49 players from Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Argentina, Ireland, England, South Africa and India.

Amongst the other Indian junior players Defender Gurjinder Singh was picked by Dabur Mumbai Magicians for USD 56,000, forward Affan Yousuf picked by Jaypee Punjab Warriors for USD 35,000.
