Bhopal, Jun 10: It rained goals in most of the matches played on the opening day today of the 1st Hockey India Senior Men National Championship being played at various venues in the city. A total of 75 goals were scored on a single day.
In one match, Punjab which trounced Gujarat by 25 goals to nil led 13-nil at half-time.
In the next match, Railways overwhelmed Tripura 28-0 and it led 13-0 at the breather.
In yet another match, Services outclassed Manipur seven-nil and half-time score was 3-0 in its favour.
Tamil Nadu beat Uttarakhand by seven-nil after leading 3-0 at half-time.
Jharkhand defeated Himachal Pradesh three-nil although the first half was goalless.
Among the losers, Puducherry was the only team which managed to score a goal against its opponents Combined Universities which won 4-1. PTI
