Islamabad: A die hard Pakistani fan of India's star cricketer Virat Kohli, who was arrested for hoisting the Indian tri-colour atop his home, was granted bail by a court in the country's Punjab province.

The additional district and sessions court in Okara admitted the bail plea of Umer Daraz, who has been behind the bars for over a month.

Umar Daraz, 22, was jailed on January 26 for celebrating with India's tricolour after batting star Kohli's 90 not out led his team to victory over Australia in a Twenty20 match in Adelaide.

A magistrate, Aneeq Anwer, had earlier rejected his bail plea, terming his act 'against the ideology of Pakistan'.

Daraz was charged with violating public order and "sovereignty of Pakistan" laws.

Later, a fresh bail plea was filed in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Asadullah Siraj. On Friday, the court admitted Daraz's bail plea and ordered him to furnish a surety bond of Rs 50,000.
