New Delhi: A day after the conclusion of players auction for the eighth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor took a jibe at the franchisees regarding the list of unsold players.

Tharoor on Tuesday, took to the social networking site twitter and said, "Look at that IPL unsold players list! An XI made from them could defeat any T20 team in the World."

According to ESPN CricInfo report, 66 players were sold while the remaining 151 which includes the likes of many senior players namely South African opener Hashim Amla, Sri Lankan batting trio of Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan, Brad Hodge, Ross Taylor and loads more went unsold.

Hashim Amla was expected to be the star attraction in the auction with a base price of Rs. 2 crores was not able to attract the bidders while the veteran Kumar Sangakkara went unsold for the third time in a row.

The biggest purchase of the day was Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh who carried a base price of Rs 2 crore, was sold after a fierce tug of war for his services between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 16 crores. Dinesh Karthik who was the second most expensive player last year for 12 crores went from Delhi Daredevils to Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rs. 10.5 crores.

The 2015 season will begin on April 8 with a clash between the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians and end on May 24.
