New Delhi: Team India's middle order batsman Suresh Raina today tied the nuptial knots with his child hood friend Priyanka Chowdhary in a grand ceremony which was attended by politicians, cricketers, family members and close friends.
The ceremony took place at The Leela Palace hotel in New Delhi.The ceremony was attended by fellow cricketers of Team India and big names from politics Chennai Super Kings, including MS Dhoni, N Srinivasan and Dwayne Bravo.
Team India's ODI skipper MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi also attended Raina's wedding at The Leela Palace hotel.
The other prominent dignitaries to be present at the occasion were former opener of Team India Virender Sehwag, Mohammed Kaif ,Team India's present opener Shikhar Dhawan, pacer Ishant Sharma, Mohit Sharma. The chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav also graced the occasion.
The 28-year-old Raina and Priyanka, who is presently working in The Netherlands, have been friends since their childhood. Their family also has close association for a long time. In fact, Priyanka's father was reportedly Raina's sports teacher in Ghaziabad.
Middle-order batsman Raina returned to the country with his India teammates after the semifinal loss to Australia in the World Cup last week.
Raina is contracted with the Chennai Super Kings, who are scheduled to kick start their campaign in the eighth edition of Indian Premier League on April 9, barely six days after his wedding.
