London: Ex-India captain and legendary  batsman Sunil Gavaskar has escaped  a car crash while travelling from Manchester to London on Sunday

The accident took place when a vehicle coming from the opposite side caught Gavaskar's driver off guard and a late manoeuvring avoided a head-on clash but could not avoid the collision. The impact of the hit was on the side where Gavaskar was seated. Despite the Jaguar taking a severe hit following the collision, all the passengers inside were luckily unhurt.

Later Gavaskar said "My God! God has saved us. There was torrential rain and our car was being driven very fast. Thankfully, no one was hurt although the accident was very, very scary,"  Gavaskar left unhurt but the collision left his car damaged. The occupants of the car had to abandon it and walk up to East Midland Parkway railway station from where they took a train to London.

At the time of accident, along with Gavaskar, cricket commentator Mark Nicholas was also inside the car. Heavy rain could be one of the reasons for the accident.
