East London, Jan 26: Pakistan's cricket team faced a collapse after a century opening partnership on the opening day of their 4-day match against a South African Invitation XI at Buffalo Park here on Friday.

Pakistan were 178 for six at close. Mohammad Hafeez, 55, and Nasir Jamshed, 68,  put on 105 for the first wicket partnership.

The visitors lost six wickets after making 40 runs.  Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed and fast bowler Umar Gul added an unbeaten 33 for the seventh wicket.

Hafeez  was dismissed by Kyle Abbott. He was followed by  Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq who were dismissed cheaply. Jamshed fell to  off-spinner Simon Harmer to be sixth man out for 68.
