Chennai: The name of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his gang has cropped up in the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee report in which a Tamil Nadu IPS officer G Sampath Kumar while deposing before the committee stated that  Chennai-based hotelier Vikram Agarwal had threatened bookie Uttam C Jain alias Kitty that  "D Company" would finish him off if he gave details of IPL betting-match fixing syndicate.

“Agarwal threatened Kitty that Dawood Ibrahim's brother Aneesh Ibrahim and his men had eliminated police inspector Padish Dutt, who probed the match-fixing case registered by the Delhi police last year, and his wife Gita Sharma, as they revealed about the syndicate,” Sampath Kumar said quoting the bookie's statement recorded by him.

Dutt's wife Gita was running a private detective agency in Delhi.

Delhi police have closed the case saying that Dutt killed his wife Gita Sharma and then ended his life.

Sampath Kumar, now SP railways in Tiruchi, was part of the probe team when the IPL scam broke out  last year.

Sampath told a newspaper: “Though, I have given all the investigation details to the CB-CID team which probed the case later, due to vested interests, Kitty's vital evidence was overlooked by the CB-CID, and the investigation focused on betting, leaving the match-fixing aspect and the larger conspiracy untouched."

“I have given all the details in black and white before the Mudgal committee … Vikram Agarwal threw parties to select cricket players in his hotel and a few other places in the city,” he said.
