In just 45 minutes of play on Day 4 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Virat Kohli's India bundled the visitors for 167 runs and sealed the Test series. This win of 372 runs is India's biggest victory by runs in Test cricket.

New Zealand 167/10 in 56.3 overs: WICKET! Nicholls walks down the track to play Ashwin's spin bowling but is deceived. Goes past the bat and the keeper Saha collects and removes the bails.

New Zealand 167/9 in 55.1 overs: WICKET! Jayant Yadav removes William Somerville. Somerville attempts a forward defence and finds an inside edge. Agarwal at forward short leg safely grabs it.

New Zealand 165/8 54 overs: DOUBLE WICKET! Jayant Yadav is breathing fire at the moment. The off-spinner first sends Kyle Jamieson and then castles Tim Southee in the same over.

New Zealand 162/6 in 51.5 overs: WICKET! Jayant Yadav sends Rachin Ravindra to the pavilion. Ravindra is deceived on a ball that hasn't spun much. Leaning forward to defend it, Rachin gets an outside edge which is easily pocketed by Pujara in the second slip.

New Zealand 154/5 in 51 overs: Some regular close calls and appeals from Indian spinners- Jayant Yadav and Ravi Ashwin. Henry Nicholls is looking resilient and Rachin Ravindra is showcasing resolve much like the drawn Kanpur Test. 14 runs from the last five overrs.

New Zealand 140/5 in 46 overs: A maiden over by Jayant Yadav to start the proceedings for India. Rachin Ravindra looks extra cautious while facing the Indian spinner on the pitch. While New Zealand need 400 odd runs for the victory, India need just five wickets to seal the win.

Rachin Ravindra faces Jayant Yadav in the opening over of Day 4 in Mumbai.

IND vs NZ: Ashwin's opening-spell pushes India closer to win against New Zealand

India's middle-order worries going into South Africa series remained but that didn't deter Ravichandran Ashwin from turning the heat on as his three quick blows left New Zealand tottering at 140 for five in pursuit of an impossible 540 on day three of the second Test.

While Daryl Mitchell (60 off 92 balls) and Henry Nicholls (36 batting) added 73 runs for the fourth wicket, there is no denying that India in all likelihood will finish it early on the fourth day with Ashwin (3/27) looking menacing after every passing over.

What will hurt New Zealand team most in this defeat is the fact that this is the game where one of its own -- Ajaz Patel, equalled the world record and grabbed a match-haul of 14 wickets, something that no one has ever done against India in Test cricket.

The tall Mitchell at least tried to use his reach to counter Ashwin and also attack Jayant Yadav and Axar Patel but looked more like the last man standing, trying to delay the inevitable before a rush of blood saw him being holed at deep extra cover. Tom Blundell had a suicidal runout going for a non-existent single.

But it was Ashwin, who again got the new ball and immediately got into the act by removing skipper Tom Latham with an angular delivery while Will Young gave bat pad to forward short leg and Ross Tayor, who has been a walking wicket, failed miserably in his attempt to slog sweep the wily off-spinner.
