Townsville, Aug 15: Allrounder Kamal Passi was named the man of the match after India beat Zimbabwe by 63 runs in the Under-19 ICC World Cup championship here today.



In another match, defending champion Australia beat Ireland by six wickets.

Kamal Passi hit an unbeaten 24 off just five balls in the final over with three sixes and a four. He also took the first four wickets during a six-over spell. Passi finished  with six for 23 in 8.1 overs.

Zimbabwe's Malcolm Lake hit a fine century with 118 runs off 107 balls with ten fours and five sixes.

Batting first after losing the toss, India made 261 for six in the allotted 50 overs with the help of a 139-run opening wicket stand provided by captain Umukt Chand, 78, and Prashant Chopra, 57.

Zimbabwe were all out for 198 in 44.1 overs. Luke Jongwe was the second highest scorer with 29 runs.

In the match against Australia, Ireland were all out for 129 in 42.5 overs. Hunter made 31 runs. Gregory and Cstle took three wickets each for Australia, while Sundhu took two wickets.
Australia reached its target in 40.3 overs.
