IND vs SA, 1st T20, Highlights: South Africa deny India their world record; win by 7 wickets

South Africa have won the match by 7 wickets. Phew! What a chase this has been from the Proteas. Stuff of dreams for South Africa. Nightmare for the Indians. A one that won't really let them sleep for a while.

  • South Africa 178/3 after 17 overs: Told you! van der Dussen took Harshal Patel to the cleaners in the 17th over, scored 22 runs, and stunned the crowd into complete silence. You can hear a pin drop in the stadium. India are under the pump, and they need someone to step up. Will it be Bhuvi?
  • South Africa 134/3 after 14 overs: Well, if anybody thought SA was out of this game after QDK's dismissal, they are in for a surprise. South Africa are well in the game and they are even threatening to chase the whole thing down. Miller has been on fire and has reached 37 in just 17 deliveries. Rassie van der Dussen has been pretty scratchy, but all it takes is a hit to back in form. Stay tuned! This chase is far from over.
  • South Africa 60/1 after 5 overs: Quinton de Kock and Dwaine Pretorius hitting it all around the park, the wicket-keeper batsman smashes Chahal for 16 runs and as follow-up act, Pretorious hits 24 off Hardik's first over
  • South Africa 26/1 after 3 overs: Just when things wereabout to get tough for the visitors, Bhuvneshwar found skipper Temba Bavuma's outside edge which carried to Pant's gloves. The umpire went upstairs for a confirmation but it made no difference to the final outcome. Skipper Bavuma departs

  • India 211/4 after 20 overs: What a day for Indian batters! India has put a monstrous total on board, courtesy, Pant and Hardik's finishing abilities. South Africa will have to play out of their skin to chase it.
  • India 150/2 after 15 overs: Fair to say, Kishan was on a mission today. India is calling the shots right now, and are in a pole position. They'll be eyeing a minimum of 220 from here. With Pant and Shreyas at the crease, Hardik, and DK still to come, anything is possible as of now.
  • India 102/1 after 10 overs: Kishan is continuing the good work, but it is Shreyas Iyer who has taken the attack to the Proteas. He is smacking them like there's no tomorrow and SA have no clue what's hit them. They need wickets and fast.
  • India 51/0 after 6 overs: A good start for India. South Africa bowled well, but both Ishan and Ruturaj just kept attacking. There's the intent everyone keeps talking about.
  • India 35/0 after 4 overs: Alright, Ishan and Ruturaj have decided that they are going to go after everything. Ishan Kishan, in particular, has thrown his bat at everything. Rabada is bowling as well as ever and has been a bit unlucky, to be honest. Edges have flown away for maximums or boundaries. Anyway, it is a fierce battle between bat and ball as of now.
  • India 13/0 after 1 Over: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan have opened the batting for India after South Africa asked the home side to bat first. Temba Bavuma started with spin with Keshav Maharaj operating with the new ball. Ishan is off the mark with a couple of boundaries at a buzzing Arun Jaitley Stadium.
  • Toss: South Africa wins the toss, asks India to bat first
  • India Playing XI: Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan

South Africa Playing XI: Quinton de Kock(w), Temba Bavuma(c), Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje

  • Rishabh Pant on captaining India: I think it is a good surface and don't mind batting first. But if I had won the toss I would have bowled first. It is one of the proudest moment in my cricketing career so far. Because a Delhi boy getting that (captaincy) honour at Delhi is a huge thing for me. Thanks to everyone for giving me this opportunity. We know our XI but at the same time we are giving different roles to players and see how they cope with that going forward.
