Team India captain Virat Kohli is known to make his presence felt wherever he is around the globe, by smashing record books and scripting new chapters on a daily basis. Here's another feat which Kohli will soon add to his list as he is now 8 runs short of 1000 Test runs in Australia.

The skipper astonishingly has 992 runs in 8 Tests he has played Down Under and has a highest score of 169, which he made when India last travelled in 2014 at the MCG.

Kohli averages 62, with five Test tons and two half-centuries to his name. However, Kohli isn't the only player to do so as there are a few greats who achieved the milestone before him.

Kohli does join an elite list which comprises of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.

Tendulkar is the top scorer from India in Australia with 1809 runs, Laxman has 1236 and Dravid scored 1143. The Master Blaster has scored 6 hundreds, seven fifties in 20 matches he played. He has a highest score of 241* Down Under.

With Kohli on a run-fest, former skipper Ricky Ponting fekt that Kohli can be 'rattled' and Australia should try to get under his skin rather than sitting back and be bullied by the Indian captain.

The India skipper has mellowed down since the previous tour Down Under but when asked if he will be baiting Australia on the field, Ponting said: "Well, he might. I don't necessarily believe that he is someone you shouldn't try to get under his skin. I have seen him rattled.

"Mitchell Johnson definitely rattled him a few times with some good hostile bowling and some good hostile body language around him. So, I would not sit back and let anyone bully," Ponting told cricket.com.au.

India will take on Australia in the four-Test series beginning on Thursday.
