Mahendra Singh Dhoni's poor form has become a matter of concern for the Indian team as the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is yet to find his Midas touch this year. In the 2018 Indian Premier League, Dhoni had a good run as he played a few crucial innings for Chennai Super Kings in their winning campaign. However, following the IPL title triumph, Dhoni has struggled to impress much with the willow.

Mahi's poor run has intensified India's middle-order woes and looking at 2019 ICC World Cup it may turn out to be a big issue for both himself and the team.

Looking at his miserable form, former Indian great Sunil Gavaskar adviced Dhoni to play some domestic cricket to get back into the form.

Talking to India Today, Gavaskar said, “Absolutely (when asked if Dhoni should feature in domestic cricket). Dhoni should be playing domestic cricket and should be playing the four-day games as well because he will help so many of the emerging players from Jharkhand.”

“In the 50-over game you have limited opportunities but if you play a four-day game and play a long innings it’s great for your stamina, for your legs, for the rhythm that you want in limited-overs cricket,” Gavaskar added.

After stepping down from captaincy Dhoni has been playing the role of guiding angle to skipper Virat Kohli from behind the stumps. The 36-year old helped the skipper to place the perfect field in crucial situations.

Dhoni's experience will be a plus point for the Indian team in the World Cup but his batting form might backfire on him. So far in 2018, Mahi has played nine ODI's and scored only 189 runs and disappointed in many crucial situations. Dhoni's ability to accelerate the innings is also fading away.
