Pakistan vs Bangladesh, Match 43, 2019 World Cup: Hello and welcome to our coverage of Match 43 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Pakistan and Bangladesh live from Lord's, London. Pakistan after opting to bat first started off extremely slow and lost Fakhar Zaman as well. But, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq steadied the ship and chipped in with important runs. However, needing over 400 to at least stand a chance to win, Pakistan have showed very little intent to reach that landmark. Bangladesh bowlers have also stuck to their task. Although they have failed to take wickets, the bowlers have kept a leash on the Pakistani scoring. Pakistan can qualify if: They beat Bangladesh by 311 runs after scoring 350, beat Bangladesh by 316 runs after scoring 400, beat Bangladesh by 321 runs after scoring 450. Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 94 runs

* A very, very convincing win today for Pakistan! It was like, the Bangladesh batting line-up, which has been so good in this tournament, just never arrived.

22.35 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Mustafizur Rahman, OUT! BOOM! Afridi finishes things off! 6-fer for him and he now holds the record of the best figures in this World Cup. Another excellent yorker on middle, Rahman fails to jam it out and the stumps are shattered. PAKISTAN WIN BY 94 RUNS!

22.32 IST: Shadab Khan to Mashrafe Mortaza, OUT! He is way short! STUMPED! No. 9 goes down! Clever bowling from Shadab. He sees Mashrafe come down the track and fires it outside off. Mashrafe swings but misses. Sarfaraz collects it and whips the bails off. The umpires take it upstairs to check. Replays show that the Mashrafe did try to slide his back foot in but could not make in time. End of the entertainment by Mashrafe.

22.28 IST: Shadab Khan to Mehedi Hasan, FOUR! Deft! Flatter and outside off, Hasan goes back, plays it late and past the short third man fielder for a boundary.

22.26 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Mashrafe Mortaza, SIX! High and handsome! Fuller and on middle, Mortaza clears his front leg, extends his arms and lofts it over the long on fence. He is dealing in maximums.

22.23 IST: Shadab Khan to Mashrafe Mortaza, SIX! TONKED! This is fuller and on middle, in the zone for Mashrafe. he lofts it over the long on stand for a biggie.

* Mashrafe Mortaza walks out to bat for probably the last time in the World Cup.

22.18 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Mahmudullah, OUT! KABOOM! What a way to get a fifer! What a delivery! WOW! That is fast and right in the blockhole, nothing Mahmudullah could have done there. Shaheen steams in and bowls a corner of a yorker on middle. Mahmudullah fails to jam it out, the ball hits the boot and hits the stumps. BAN 198/8 in 40.3 overs

22.15 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Mohammad Saifuddin, OUT! CAUGHT! Shaheen gets his fourth. Half century for Saifuddin in the last game and a first-baller in this one.

22.11 IST: Shadab Khan to Mosaddek Hossain, OUT! Mosaddek holes out! Shadab breaks the stand. His first. Hossain had to go for it. He comes down the track and looks to go inside out over cover. He ends up hitting it a little too straight and Azam at long off takes a straight forward catch.

21.55 IST: Wahab Riaz to Mahmudullah, FOUR! Top edge! Bangladesh won't care how they come as long as they come. Shorter in length and on middle, Mahmudullah looks to pull but gets a top edge over the keeper.

21.45 IST: Wahab Riaz to Mahmudullah, EDGY FOUR! Bangladesh need a lot more! Fuller and outside off, Mahmudullah looks to drive but gets an outside edge which races to the third man fence.

21.27 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Shakib Al Hasan, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Shaheen Afridi has probably ended the hopes of Bangladesh chasing this down. Shakib Al Hasan is dismissed. Shaheen bowls it on a length and outside off. Fractionally outside off I should say. Hasan looks to cut but that shot was not on. The outside edge is produced and it goes straight into the gloves of Sarfaraz. Pakistan are elated. It is now their match to lose.

21.24 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Shakib Al Hasan, Well played! A slower one outside off, Shakib plays it late and fine on the off side for two.

21.22 IST: Shadab Khan to Mahmudullah, FOUR! The dots were building, the big shot was coming and it comes off. Mahmudullah plays the slog sweep. He connects well and it goes over the mid-wicket fence.

* Mahmudullah is the new man in.

21.14 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Liton Das, OUT! CAUGHT! Soft, soft dismissal. Brilliant from Shaheen Afridi. The bowling change has worked wonders. The partnership which had started to flourish, has been cut short. It is a cross-seam ball and it is just behind a driving length. Das initially looks to drive but the ball comes off slow from the surface. He looks to check his shot but it hits the bat and lobs towards cover where Sohail takes a dolly. Pakistan continue to hold the edge in the game.

21.11 IST: Shadab Khan to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR! Too fine and a much-needed boundary! On the pads, Shakib works it fine and the ball races away to the fence. 186 needed in 136 balls. Also, the 50-run stand is up but now one of the two needs to go.

21.07 IST: Shadab Khan to Shakib Al Hasan, Fifty for Shakib! Another excellent knock by him. His 7th in the World Cup. He gets there by working it through square leg for one. He holds the key for side and they would want him to make a big ton here.

21.05 IST: Shadab Khan to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR! Creamed! Slightly fuller and just outside off, Shakib leans into it and hits it through extra cover for a boundary.

21.01 IST: Shadab Khan to Liton Das, A couple to end as das works it with soft hands.

20.57 IST: Imad Wasim to Shakib Al Hasan, EDGY FOUR! 100 up for Bangladesh. This is flatter and outside off, Shakib looks to cut but it goes off the outside edge past short third man for a boundary.

20.42 IST: Imad Wasim to Shakib Al Hasan, On off, Shakib once again closes the face of the bat early and it goes off the leading edge through point for one.

* Liton Das is the new man in!

20.35 IST: Wahab Riaz to Mushfiqur Rahim, OUT! Drag is on! A loose stroke this by Rahim. Bangladesh lose their third and they slip further now! This is shorter and outside off, Rahim looks to guide it down to third man but there is not a lot of width on offer. He ends up getting an inside edge onto the stumps.

20.27 IST: Wahab Riaz to Shakib Al Hasan, This is on the pads, Shakib looks to work it on the leg side but misses to get hit high on the pads.

20.20 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR! Welcome into the attack! Lovely timing! This is on a length and around off, Rahim just uses the pace of the bowler and guides it through cover-point. It is the shorter side so the man in the deep had no chance.

20.17 IST: Wahab Riaz to Mushfiqur Rahim, FOUR! Welcome into the attack! Lovely timing! This is on a length and around off, Rahim just uses the pace of the bowler and guides it through cover-point. It is the shorter side so the man in the deep had no chance.

20.11 IST: Mohammad Hafeez to Mushfiqur Rahim, FOUR! Swept and swept nicely through square leg.

* Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man in.

20.00 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Tamim Iqbal, OUT! TIMBER! What a delivery that is! An absolute beauty of a slower one. Tamim was completely foxed by the lack of pace there. Shaheen Afridi is once again amongst the wickets.

19.57 IST: Shaheen Afridi to Shakib Al Hasan, Shorter and outside off, Shakib looks to pull it but gets an inside edge onto the pads.

19.53 IST: Mohammad Amir to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR! Another boundary Shakib. He is already into double figures. This is on the pads, easy pickings for him. He works it through square leg for a boundary.

19.48 IST: Mohammad Hafeez to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR! All the pressure is released with this half-tracker! It is on middle and it sits up to be hit. Shakib goes back and pulls it through mid-wicket for a boundary.

19.44 IST: Mohammad Amir to Soumya Sarkar, OUT! Amir strikes! A good low catch by Zaman and Sarkar falls after a promising start. Nothing great about this delivery. It is short and outside off, Sarkar goes after it. He does not keep it down though.

19.38 IST: Mohammad Hafeez to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR! Excellent shot this! The key here was he not only came down the track but also made room. He got to the pitch of the ball, went with the turn and Sarkar lofts it over covers for a boundary. The idea is clear, Sarkar is going after the bowlers and Tamim will play himself in.

19.36 IST: Mohammad Amir to Tamim Iqbal, Edge but just short! Length and around off, this one shapes away. Tamim goes after it but ends up playing inside the line of the ball. It goes off the outside edge but does not carry to Ahmed who dives to his left.

19.32 IST: Mohammad Hafeez to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR! Now then, what has happened there? You do not see that often. The ball slips out of Hafeez's hand and lobs towards the extreme left of the wicket. Sarkar though still goes after it as he steps down the track and gives it a real whack for the boundary in the mid-wicket region. Pakistan won't be happy with him going after that but that is legal.

19.30 IST: Mohammad Amir to Soumya Sarkar, EDGED AND DROPPED! Haris Sohail is the culprit. That was a regulation catch. Amir bowls it on a length and around off, Sarkar has a tentative poke at it. The ball goes off the outside edge towards first slip where HS looks to take it but spills it. The batters take a run. Sarkar would now want to make Pakistan pay.

19.28 IST: Mohammad Amir to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR! in the air but in the gap! A risky shot there by Sarkar! It is a length ball and around off, Sarkar, who is just facing his second ball, looks to drive it on the up. Does so uppishly but in the gap and through covers.

19.24 IST: Mohammad Hafeez to Tamim Iqbal, Another floated delivery on off, Tamim pushes it back to the bowler.

* We are back for the chase! The Pakistan players make their way out to the middle. They are followed by the Bangladesh openers, Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal. Pakistan start off with a spinner, Mohammad Hafeez has the first new ball in hand. Here we go...

18.55 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Sarfaraz Ahmed, NO hat-trick as Sarfaraz negotiates the last ball watchfully. This is on a length and around middle, Sarfaraz defends it on the off side for one! Just the 7 runs and two wickets from the last over. PAKISTAN FINISH WITH 315!

18.50 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Amir, OUT! He does get a fifer! Got one in the previous game and one today. His 5th in ODIs. Excellent performance with the ball by him. This is short and around middle, Amir makes room and looks to cut but it is too close to play that shot. He gets an outside edge to the keeper. Rahman is on a hat-trick here.

18.42 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Imad Wasim, FOUR! Slapped! 300 up in style! Slower one outside off, Imad is expecting it so he waits for it and hammers it through covers for a boundary.

18.39 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Amir, FOUR! Amir is off the mark in style with a crunching cover drive. The Fizz over pitches and Amir just gets bat on ball, he hits it through covers and you need not run for those. Any runs from his bat are all bonus runs.

18.35 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Shadab Khan, OUT! Caught and bowled! That is a sensational take! Take a bow Rahman. He has a huge smile on his face and rightly so! This is a fuller length and on middle, Shadab looks to work it on the leg side but ends up playing it early. It goes back very low and to the left of the bowler who gets down and takes it with his left hand stretched out.

18.30 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Wahab Riaz, OUT! TIMBER! A wonderful yorker! Just too good for Wahab Riaz. It is right at the base of middle pole. Wahab who has a high bat-lift, fails to get his bat down in time and the stumps are disturbed.

18.24 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Imad Wasim, SIX! Just over! Imad is playing a gem of a knock here! This is right in the slot. Full and on middle, Imad lofts it over the long on fence for a biggie. It is the longer part of the ground so he really hit that well.

Now then! Sarfaraz seems to be going off. That elbow must be hurting a lot. A sad end to the World Cup for him. Wahab Riaz walks out to the middle. We know he is more than capable of clearing the ropes.

18.18 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Imad Wasim, FOUR! Handy, handy boundary! Shorter in length and outside off, it is the slower one. Imad waits for it and the carves it over the point fielder for a boundary. PAK 265/5 in 44.5 overs

18.14 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Imad Wasim, That has hit Sarfaraz! He ends up saving a boundary! This is fuller and on off, SA smashes it back towards the non-striker who fails to get out of the way and is hit on the pads. The ball deflects towards cover and the batters take one. Sarfaraz seems to be in a lot of pain.

* Sarfaraz Ahmed is the new man in.

18.08 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Haris Sohail, OUT! In the air... taken! 100th wicket for Rahman in ODIs. Pakistan seem to be losing their way here. All of a sudden, they are 5 down. The Fizz bangs this short and around off, Sohail looks to slap it hard but only manages a top edge which goes high in the air over covers.

18.04 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Haris Sohail, FOUR! That has been timed brilliantly! Fuller and on off, Haris just leans into it and creams it through covers. Ideal start to the over and the 250 is also up. PAK 250/4 in 43.1 overs

18.00 IST: Mehedi Hasan to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT! Hafeez is once again out on the slog sweep! How many times have we seen this in this World Cup? This time for a change, it is not a part-timer who is bowling. Two wickets in quick succession for Bangladesh. They will now have two new batters at the crease. This is tossed up on middle, Hafeez goes down on one knee and looks to hit it with the turn over deep square leg. He does not time it well and Shakib there takes it by moving to his right. A well-deserved wicket for Hasan. He has been really good today. 320 looks difficult now.

17.55 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Imam-ul-Haq, OUT! Yes, he has kicked the stumps. It is a sad end to a top innings. Bangladesh won't mind though as it is timely. Imam would have probably stepped on the gas. Mustafizur lands this on middle, Imam goes back and looks to flick it through square leg. There is a woody noise as he finishes the shot. The batters go for a run but Rahim is appealing as the stumps are disturbed. The umpire sees that and takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and they show that Imam has kicked his own stumps.

17.52 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Imam-ul-Haq, 100 for Imam! His 7th in ODIs and first in World Cups. A proud moment for him. He gets there by working this down to long on for one. Everybody in the ground are up on their feet to applaud the effort. He would probably now step on the gas.

17.47 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR! Too easy and brilliant! Minimal risk in the shot as it was with the turn. This is floated outside off, Hafeez goes over covers and bags a boundary.

17.43 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Imam-ul-Haq, FOUR! Straight back over the bowler's head! Shakib floats it up and ends up bowling it very full outside off. Imam goes with the spin and down to the long on fence.

17.32 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Imam-ul-Haq, This is flatter and on the pads, Imam looks to flick but misses. It hits the pads and goes on the leg side. A leg bye taken.

17.29 IST: Mashrafe Mortaza to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR! Up and over! First signs of aggression by Hafeez. He uses his feet, gets to the pitch of the ball and lofts it over mid off. A boundary. PAK 204/2 in 35.3 overs

17.25 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Mohammad Hafeez, Another dot to end! Saifuddin is bowling well to the right-handers. This is fuller around off, it tails back in. Hafeez jams it out. So despite going for 6 off the first two balls, only 7 comes from the over.

17.18 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Imam-ul-Haq, FOUR! Width on offer and Imam cashes in! This wide outside off, Imam plants his front foot ahead and carves it past point for a boundary.

17.14 IST: Mehedi Hasan to Imam-ul-Haq, FOUR OVERTHROWS! That was so needless, so very needless from Hasan! It should have been another dot. Imam comes down the track and strokes it back to the bowler. Hasan fields it and fires it back towards the other end. The throw is a wild one. Rahim dives to his left and tries to stop it but he has no chance. It goes to the third man fence.

17.10 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Babar Azam, OUT! No inside edge and Azam is a goner! Three reds too. Not sure why he reviewed, maybe because he was into his 90s. Well, he takes Pakistan's sole review along with him. Saifuddin has the last laugh. He bowls a yorker on middle, Azam looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. An appeal follows and the umpire raises the finger. Azam straightaway reviews. Time for the replays and they show that it is hitting middle and leg stump. Heartbreak for Babar as he misses out on a ton by just the 4 runs. Much-needed wicket for Bangladesh. The mammoth stand has been broken. Bangladesh will hope this is the opening they wanted.

16.59 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Babar Azam, FOUR! Mustafizur is not learning here! He bangs it short once again and lands it on the body, Azam is ready for it as he stands tall and hammers it through backward square leg. That went to the fence in a jiffy. A huge over for Pakistan. 15 from it. PAK 165/1 in 30.1 overs

16.53 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Babar Azam, FOUR! Too short and put away! Slightly shorter and the key here was that the batter picks the length early and he swats it through mid-wicket and the ball races away to the fence. 150 up for Pakistan.

16.50 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Babar Azam, A direct hit but Imam is well in! This has pitched around leg. Azam looks to flick but misses. The ball hits the pads and rolls to the left of the keeper. Imam wants a run but Azam hesitates. He then goes for it and makes it in. Leg bye signaled. Also, while the batter were running, the Fizz was appealing but the umpire was not interested.

16.44 IST: Mosaddek Hossain to Imam-ul-Haq, FIFTY! Edgy three! This is flaoted up on off, Imam looks to hit it through covers but it goes off the outside edge down to third man. The short fine leg fielder runs after it and pushes it back in. Saves a run for his side. Also, the fifty is up for Imam. His 7th in ODIs. He needs to get going here.

16.44 IST: Mosaddek Hossain to Imam-ul-Haq, MISFIELD AND FOUR! Saifuddin again. This time at the other end of the fielder. Shorter and outside off, MS goes back and cuts it through point. Saifuddin runs to his right but it goes between his legs and another boundary results.

16.42 IST: Mosaddek Hossain to Babar Azam, FOUR! Another brilliant shot by Azam. He sees the flight on this delivery, steps out late, converts it into a full toss and then does not look to hit it very hard. He just times it past mid off and bags a boundary.

16.37 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Babar Azam, Uppish but DROPPED! This is a big, gbi drop. Azam who is well-set out there has been given a life. This could prove very costly. Shorter and around off, Azam slashes at it. It goes uppishly towards point who sticks his hands to the left but fails to hang on. The batters take two. The move to get back the Fizz almost worked.

*Mustafizur Rahman is back on!

16.28 IST: Mosaddek Hossain to Babar Azam, FOUR! FIFTY! A poor ball and the pressure is released! This is shorter and around off, Azam goes back and punches it firmly past covers and the ball races away. Gets to his fifty in style. His 15th in ODIs. A ton is on the offer here.

16.25 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Babar Azam, A quick run! Risky one! Azam pushes it towards cover and sets off. Imam responds. The fielder throws it to the keeper who whips the bails off but Imam makes it in with a dive.

*Mosaddek Hossain is on!

*This has been a very slow start for Pakistan considering their need to get big runs and a big win.

16.09 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Babar Azam, In the air but off the pads! Azam comes down the track but Shakib bowls it outside off. Azam looks to play it out but it hits the pads and lobs towards point.

16.04 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Babar Azam, Fifty-run stand up between the two with this single. A very good one and it has come up in good time as well. Azam pushes this shorter delivery down to long on for one. They need to keep going.

16.00 IST: Mashrafe Mortaza to Imam-ul-Haq, A risky shot but it comes off! This is around middle, Imam plants his front foot across and works it behind square on the leg side for three. Why that was risky? Well, had Imam missed, he was an LBW candidate. PAK 76/1 in 14.3 overs

15.56 IST: Mashrafe Mortaza to Imam-ul-Haq, Good running! This is on the pads, Imam works it through mid-wicket. They take the first run quickly which makes the second possible and they complete that too.

15.49 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Babar Azam, FIVE WIDES! Not the best start for Shakib! This is down the leg side. Azam looks to flick but misses. Rahim fails to collect it and it races away to the fine leg fence.

15.45 IST: Mustafizur to Babar Azam, FOUR! Edged and between the gaps! Babar gets lucky! That slip had just been moved wider and it goes from where he was earlier. Shorter and outside off, not a lot of room on offer. Azam throws his bat at it but it is too close to play that shot. It goes off the outside edge, past the gully fielder and to the third man fence. PAK 49/1 in 11.1 overs

15.38 IST: Mustafizur Rahman to Babar Azam, FOUR! Lovely, lovely shot! Azam made excellent use of the angle there. The Fizz pushes it across the right-hander by landing it on a length and around off, Azam stands tall and pushes it through cover-point and the ball races away to the fence. Azam has started nicely here.

* Mustafizur Rahman to bowl the last over of Powerplay 1!

15.30 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Babar Azam, FOUR! A full toss, a freebie for Azam to get off the mark. It is on the pads, he flicks it through square leg and the ball races away to the fence. Azam is underway in style.

* Babar Azam walks in.

15.26 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Fakhar Zaman, OUT! Straight to the man and Saifuddin draws first blood! Zaman stands there in shock as he has got dismissed on a delivery which he surely should have hit to the fence. This is full and wide outside off. Zaman throws his bat at it. He though does not keep it down and also does not find the gap. It goes quickly to Hassan at backward point who take s sharp chance. Pakistan 23/1 in 7.1 overs

15.20 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Imam-ul-Haq, FOUR! Spoils the over somewhat! Releases all the pressure that was building. On the fuller side and outside off, Imam just leans into it and strokes it through covers for a boundary. That was delightful to watch. His shape, the transfer of the body weight, everything looked perfect.

15.15 IST: Saifuddin to Imam, FOUR! Sails away for a boundary!  Full and down the leg side, Imam turns it through fine leg and gets a boundary! PAK 16/0 in 4 overs

15.14 IST: Mehedi Hasan to Fakhar Zaman, MIX-UP, RUN OUT CHANCE, SAFE! Communication breakdown. Full and around off, FZ drives it towards mid off and sets off on a merry morning jog. But Imam is ball-watching and sends Zaman back. Fakhar has to do a U-turn and luckily for him, the fielder just about takes a wee bit of extra time to throw. Makes it in, does the southpaw.

15.10 IST: Mehedi Hasan to Fakhar Zaman, TOP EDGE, SAFE! First signs of desperation from Pakistan. Tossed up on middle and off, Zaman comes down the track and looks to go big but is not to the pitch of the ball. Goes through with his attempted lofted-over-mid off shot but gets a massive top edge. Short extra cover runs back while long off runs across but the ball lands in between! Two runs taken.

15.05 IST: Mohammad Saifuddin to Fakhar Zaman, FOUR! Finds the gap! Short and outside off, Fakhar crunches this though the covers!

*Mohammad Saifuddin to bowl from the other end

14.53 IST: The teams are out for the national anthems. Bangladesh to sing first

14.47 IST: Captains at toss:

Mashrafe Mortaza: I'd love to bat first on this wicket as it's a used wicket. Have to bowl well and restrict them to a chaseable total. Mahmudullah and Mehidy are in for Sabbir and Rubel. We've been playing well against them but this is a fresh game and they're a good side. They're starting to take off in terms of momentum and we need to play well. Yes, it will be a good milestone for us if we manage to win four games in the World Cup. It is my final World Cup game and I will try my best.

Sarfaraz Ahmed: We will bat first. Only chance we have is to bat first and put a big total on the board. So we will try our best. We are going with the same team, although we know that we need quick and big runs. It's a long tournament and one game is different from the others. Unfortunate to be in this position but we will try our best.

Brief preview: Their semifinal chances reduced to just a mathematical possibility, former champions Pakistan will need an improbable win over Bangladesh to have a shot at making the semifinals of the World Cup when the two sides clash on Friday. Pakistan's resurgence in the World Cup looked eerily close to the 1992 Cup-winning edition before India's loss to England dented their hopes of a semifinal spot and when New Zealand went down to the hosts last night, it was almost over for them.
