Mohammed Shami was omitted from the India squad for the Afghanistan Test match after he failed to clear a fitness test at the NCA, Bengaluru.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami was on Monday dropped from the India squad for the upcoming historic Test match against Afghanistan, scheduled to held in Bengaluru from June 14 after he failed to clear a fitness test at the NCA, Bengaluru.

The 28-year-old Shami has been replaced by Haryana-born pacer Navdeep Saini, who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket. (Also Read: Afghanistan have better spinners than India, claims captain Asghar Stanikzai)

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Navdeep Saini as Mohammed Shami’s replacement in the Indian Test team for the upcoming Paytm Test against Afghanistan. The announcement came after Shami failed to clear the fitness test at NCA, Bengaluru. (Also Read: Mujeeb Ur Rahman set to unleash R Ashwin-taught mystery ball against India)

"The Indian team management has requested that India A fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Rajneesh Gurbani attend the training sessions of the Indian team and bowl at the Indian batsmen in the nets. A request was also made for Ankit Rajpoot, but the Uttar Pradesh fast bowler is unwell," the BCCI said in a press release.

Meanwhile, BCCI's selection committee has named Ishan Kishan as the replacement for Sanju Samson in the India A team for the away one-day series against England Lions and West Indies A.

The replacement was announced after Samson failed to clear the Yo-Yo Test.

"The All-India Senior Committee has named Ishan Kishan in India A team for the away one-day series against England Lions and West Indies A. Sanju Samson, who was originally named in the squad, failed his fitness test and was replaced by former India Under 19 captain, who cleared his fitness test," the BCCI said.
