The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner and with the dates, venues and schedule for the first two weeks announced, three-time champions Mumbai Indians are ready to pounce on the defending champs - Chennai Super Kings. 

The rivalry between the two franchises is one of the most fierce since the league's inception and as the battle between the Blue and Yellow have always delivered epic thrillers. Mumbai and Chennai's confrontations are one of the most highly anticipated clashes and it's the Blue who are ready to welcome the defending champions on April 3 in Wankhede. Here's what the Mumbai Indians had to say. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of the first two weeks of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday with Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore all set to kick off the proceedings.

The tournament is all set to begin on March 23 as announced earlier by the board. 

The cricket board went ahead announced the fixtures for the first 17 matches keeping in mind the general elections in the month of April. After further assessment and working with the authorities, a decision will be taken on the remaining fixtures.

The first game of the tournament will be played in Chennai -- the home of last year's champion CSK.

While Mumbai Indians won the IPL thrice in 2013, 2015 and 2017, Chennai have also won the title thrice - 2010, 2011 and 2018. These two teams are the only franchises to win the IPL thrice.
