Indian cricket team's new manager will soon be announced: BCCI

The candidate must have successfully managed a cricket team of any of the affiliated units of BCCI or the national teams, at the first class or at the International level.

In a latest development, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that they will soon appoint a new manager for the Indian cricket team currently on a month-long tour to Sri Lanka. During a press conference on Saturday, acting president C.K.Khanna confirmed that the announcement will be made very soon.

A few days back, the world’s richest cricket body confirmed the appointment of Ravi Shastri as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. The announcement of Shastri’s appointment for the coveted post came with plenty of drama and controversy. Shastri has earlier served as the Team Director (2014-2016) of Team India. 

Speaking about team manager’s appointment to ANI, Khanna said, “We have shortlisted thirteen names for now. We’ll interview them on Tuesday afternoon.” The tenure of the post is one year.

He also went ahead and heaped praise on the India’s women’s cricket team who will take on hosts England in the ICC Women World Cup final on Sunday. He said: “We are confident that the Indian team will come back with the trophy.”

He also added that the Indian board had unanimously decided to give fifty-lakh to each player and in the squad and twenty-five lakh to the coaching staff.
