  • 2:58 PM (IST)

    FOUR!

Third in the over and this is the best of the lot one can say. Brings out the paddle scoop, connects well and it goes to the fine leg fence. Sharma onto 98, one ball to go, will he get to his ton?

  • 2:55 PM (IST)

Marcus Stoinis to MS Dhoni, FOUR. FIFTY! MS Dhoni scores his 68th ODI half-century. How important is this knock and what a confidence booster this will be. He has been struggling today but has still continued and is playing a very handy knock. Gets there with a boundary. Gets a full ball on middle, Dhoni smashes it towards mid on. Richardson there dives to stop it, he gets a hand but the ball is hit well enough to reach the fence. His job though is yet not done. India 138/3 in 31.1 overs vs Australia 288/5

  • 2:13 PM (IST)

  • 2:10 PM (IST)

    FOUR!

Beherendorff to Sharma, FOUR! Innovation and it has come off! Goes down on one knee and plays the paddle scoop, it is over short fine leg and races to the fence. The Indians might have decided to stop on the accelerator here. IND 118/3 in 28.2 overs

Rohit Sharma on his way to a fifty in Sydney.

    100-run partnership!

Jhye Richardson to MS Dhoni, Dhoni comes down the track, the bowler tries to outsmart him by bowling it a touch short. Dhoni though does well to adjust and then guide it through cover-point for a run. The 100-run partnership comes up between these two guys. Amazing effort to pull out the team from 4/3. They have steadied the ship. Now though they need to step on the gas a little but also, not lose a wicket.

  • 2:00 PM (IST)

    100 up for INDIA

Siddle to Dhoni, 1 run, takes the team total to 100/3. Still, 189 runs to go, wonder how that will go?

    SIX!

Behrendorff to Sharma, SIX! Has Marsh touched the ropes while pushing the ball back in? They have gone upstairs to check. This seems to be touch and go. Yes, he has! But an excellent effort by him. Rohit Sharma on the other hand, takes full toll of the freebie. He nonchalantly flicks it towards deep square leg. Marsh there is very close to the ropes. He catches the ball but then realizes he is losing balance. He throws it back in. The batsmen in the meantime take two. The umpire though takes it upstairs to check whether the effort is clean. Replays however, show, Marsh's leg did touch the ropes. Maximum has been signaled. First of the innings. This should break the shackles. IND 11/3 in 5 overs

MS Dhoni walks into the carnage!

  • 12:24 PM (IST)

    WICKET!

OUT! Richardson removes Rayudu for 0. Three reds and India lose their third. Rayudu is the man taking the long walk back, not only does he take a review with him but probably the hopes of India chasing this total down too. Jhye Ricahrdson is on fire here. His second in the space three balls. Unlike Kohli's dismissal, this is a top nut. It pitches around middle and off and comes back in. Rayudu tries to defend but is done in by the movement. It hits the front pad. A huge appeal then follows, the umpire gives it a thought and then raises his finger. After a chat with Rohit, Rayudu reviews. Replays show the on-field call is the right one. Second Indian batsman to bag a duck today. India 4/3 in 3.5 overs vs Australia 288/5 in Sydney

  • 12:20 PM (IST)

    WICKET!

Jhye Richardson to Virat Kohli, OUT! GONE! Look at the way the Aussies are celebrating, that will tell you how big a wicket this is. The chase master, Virat Kohli is out of here. He can't believe it though. He has hit that right off the middle but straight to the fielder at square leg. It is on his pads, Kohli loves it there. He flicks it nicely but straight to the man at square leg. Stoinis there takes it on the second attempt. India in huge trouble here, their talisman walks back without troubling the scorers a lot. IND 4/2 in 3.3 overs

Kohli walks off after being dismissed.

  • 12:14 PM (IST)

    WICKET!

OUT! Behrendorff removes Dhawan for 0. This is plumb in front! Jason Behrendorff gets his maiden ODI wicket in the first over itself. Top delivery. He spears it full and around middle, Dhawan plants his front foot way too across and tries to flick but misses. The ball hits his pads, an appeal goes up and the umpire raises his finger. Jason Beherendorff is elated after dismissing Dhawan.

Replays show that is is pitching outside leg.

    The chase begins

We are back for the chase! The openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan make their way out to the middle. Jason Behrendorff, the debutant, has the new ball in hand. Here we go...

  • 12:04 PM (IST)

    What went wrong?

Bhuvi bowled overs 46, 48 and 50, which would otherwise have been bowled by Bumrah. Conceded 40, picking up just the wicket of Handscomb. It may or may not haunt India in this game but it surely puts Kumar's place in the ODI side in doubt. Ever since he has come back from injury in the Indian T20 league, he has never been his own self. Jadeja was excellent, choking up the opposition and so was Kuldeep, barring that last over. Ambati Rayudu bowling 2 overs showed how badly Kohli missed Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya.

  • 12:03 PM (IST)

    Disappointment for India

Wow. That is some sort of a target set by Australia. Not that it will worry India too much but those last 7 overs - 80/1, will disappoint them. The death bowling was not that great and fielding oh dear... not mentionable at all.

  • 11:36 AM (IST)

    Innings Break!

  • 11:35 AM (IST)

    AUSTRALIA END WITH 288!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Glenn Maxwell, Nope! However, it is still a very expensive one as 18 comes from it. A couple to end as Maxwell lofts it over the cover fielder. Kumar has been taken to the cleaners in the last spell, he has gone for 40 in the three overs he has bowled and only taken a wicket.

  • 11:29 AM (IST)

    FOUR!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Marcus Stoinis, FOUR. Frustrating this for India. That fielder was brought in and it goes over him, that too off the edge. Full and outside off, Stoinis swings but gets an outside edge over the short third man fielder. A boundary results. This is turning out to be an expensive last over. AUS 282/5

  • 11:28 AM (IST)

    SIX!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Marcus Stoinis, SIX! BANG! A gift served by Kumar. A high full toss, this time Stoinis takes full toll of it as he tonks it over the mid-wicket fence. Ideal start to the over, pressure on the bowler now.

    WICKET!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Peter Handscomb, OUT c Shikhar Dhawan b Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Caught! No misjudgement this time. End of a wonderful knock from Handscomb. Has given Australia something to bowl at. A short ball outside off, Peter jumps out, tries to slap it over the off side but cannot quite connect it well. Gets more height than distance and Shikhar Dhawan pockets a dolly at the extra cover boundary. 73 from 61 for the Victorian. Australia have lost their fifth wicket.

  • 11:15 AM (IST)

    SIX!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Peter Handscomb, DROPPED, SIX! Valiant effort from Ambati Rayudu. Nearly pulled off a blinder. Had he stayed at the ropes and not come in, he would still have taken the catch. A short ball, around off, Handscomb gets across and looks to pull but mistimes it. The ball goes straight to where Rayudu would have been, at long leg but because he came running in, he has to adjust. Runs across, then back, leaps but only parries it beyond the ropes.

  • 11:11 AM (IST)

    WIDE!

Mohammed Shami to Peter Handscomb, WIDE! That went completely wrong, however, Handscomb must have felt he missed out there. It is a full toss down the leg side, Peter swings but misses. It has been wide-d though.

  • 11:10 AM (IST)

    Yorker!

Mohammed Shami to Marcus Stoinis, Another yorker on middle, Stoinis moves his front leg out of the way and whips it towards deep mid-wicket for a single. Good two balls to begin with by Shami. Very full, difficult for the batsman to get under those.

  • 11:04 AM (IST)

    FOUR!

Kumar to Handscomb, FOUR! Just brilliant. So delightful this was. He uses his feet and also makes room. Bhuvi lands it on a length. Handscomb lofts it over covers and the ball races away to the fence. AUS 234/4 in 45.2 overs

    WICKET!

OUT! Kuldeep removes Marsh for 54. Yes Kuldeep can get the breakthrough and it's the set Shaun Marsh walking back to the pavilion. Kuldeep flights this one up, tempting Marsh to have a go at it. Marsh gets tempted by it and comes down the track and tries to heave it over long on. The bat shakes in his hand and he doesn't time it well. The ball falls just in front of Rohit Sharma, who dives and takes another good catch. Sharma is having a very good day in the field.  Australia 186/4 after 37.3 overs in Sydney
