Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly today admitted that he has received a death threat in form of a letter from an unnamed source. The letter, it was learnt, warned him of grave consequences if he visits a district felicitation function organised by the district sports federation at the Vidyasagar University.

"I got the letter couple of days back. I have intimated the whole matter to the police as well as the organisers of the programme there," the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President said.

The iconic batsman was scheduled to go to Midnapore district in West Bengal for Vidyasagar University's programme on January 19.

The letter advised him to refrain from visiting the area.

Asked whether he would still attend the function, he said, "I have not decided yet and am waiting to hear from the authorities on this."
